Hi grasbo here from Lymington,a little locality in Tasmania.I stumbled across this site when looking through images of American cars of which I have owned a few but not a station wagon. Not many wagons made it to Australia but if they did most ended up as hearses.Had the chance many years ago to by a 1959 Ford Ranchwagon in immaculate condition from a funeral business. It had been converted back to original as it was a hearse.I was half hour two late.I like seeing how 50s and60s wagons differ in the rear to sedans(different trim ,tailights, etc).I drive an aussie Ford Falcon s/w, EA model.Unfortunately it has seen better days and may have to be retired shortly.Cheers.
Welcome Gasbo! Do you know my friend George Hawkings? His wife teaches at the local grammer school. But I forget the name of the town. Good luck finding your wagon. Lots of our American Iron is shipped into Australia. You just need to find out where it's sold and put in an order for a good 1958 Ford Ranch Wagon. Welcome to the fun!
grasbo, I'm just new to the site, and wagon owning, but have a keen eye out on the roads all the time for interesting cars, and you are right I reckon, American wagons are pretty thin on the ground. Sedans/trucks are a lot more common. I was looking for a Kingswood wagon for quite a while before I stumbled across the (American) Ford wagon I have now. And don't worry about you're old EA, any wagon is a good wagon!! Cheers
grasbo, good luck with your search we recently purchased a 66 Mercury CP for under 10k . 66 did it so its only time till your comes along from just above
Thanks Dennis, much appreciated. I absolutely have to return the , that is an awesome wagon in your picture! Which one is it, I'm not too familiar with US wagons. Cheers
