    That production number sounds about right. It took several years for owners in California to begin singing the praises of Datsun/Nissan products (remember, all production went into West Coast ports and hardly got past the Rockies) before they really began to take off in the very early Seventies.

    At least it's been upgraded to a 5 speed. The little 1200 with 4 speed will barely run 1960s freeway speeds, let alone keep up with today's 80 MPH traffic. My neighbor has a '69 Datsun PU with the 1300/4 spd, and he won't even take it on the freeway.
