It is a rare one. Definitely don't see many around. To fully restore it would be expensive. http://www.ebay.com/itm/15152316153...trkparms=gh1g=I151523161530.N7.S2.M953.R2.TR6
I know it's the less desirable of the '58 Fiestas, but I hope it gets restoration in lieu of "restomod" or ratrod. Too few 1958 anythings left to enjoy. Nice colors, and it looks like the seats are original type fabric and pattern.
I was thinking the same thing. If it was me, I think I would restore her mechanically, patch up the rust and blend the paint, polish the chrome and stainless the best I could and drive it as is.
I agree with the ^^^^^! Drive it mostly as is. Why spend a ton of money to "restore" the thing to original condition for SOME ONE ELSE to enjoy. Just fix what needs fixing and have fun!
Nice enterior and a decent driver. I agree, clean it up and get it mecanically safe then drive it. It may not be top of the line but it's still rare.
I agree. This is not the 'hardtop' version - has the full 'B' post and frames around the door glass, so it's never going to be worth the really big money that this version would bring: Clean it up, get it running good, have fun.
On the plus side this model will be quieter with less wind noise and leaks and more solid than a hardtop wagon.
I know a guy in ND that has a fetish for those 58 Oldsmobiles, he's got 1 of each offered totally restored to original condition......2dr post, 2dr hdtp, convertible, 4dr post, 4dr hdtp, post wagon, and hdtp wagon.
Well, maybe we'll see this beauty show up again. I'm not trying to compare well done custom jobs, even though I prefer stock all the way, to what some people do with cars. I notice that the rear seat bottom front may have been destroyed, it looked like something had chewed and transferred stuffing into the floor. Stick some whitewalls and the wheel covers back on it, and pick the first thing you want to restore or at least return to original. I've only known one person whose mother owned an 88 convertible through the '60's and never got a look close up. I did see a Joad family looking group with a flawless Ninety-Eight four door hardtop at the turnpike rest area, a bright red four door white top hardtop, and took a test drive in a decent looking 88 two door sedan, with some of the chrome shaved off. I've always loved The GM 5 from 1958. I'd love to see Mr. '58 Olds' collection. Maybe it was on this site I saw the Tennessee collector with a yard full of '58's?
This one is on eBay right now . It's the super 88 hardtop wagon . Looks pretty solid http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=181722539328
