    Hello to all of you!

my name is Matthias (Matt) and I finally made it to register to this wonderful station wagon forum. I have been around here for quite some time and now want to take part in this community!

As the title already says, I live in Germany, therefore, please excuse me in advance for any typos or failures in grammar...:sorry:

Anyway, for my introduction, I´d like to give you some details about myself...:)...I am 45 years old, married and have a daughter of six years now. I am employed as a mechanical engineer, so at least a certain technical background is existent.
My love to american cars grew during the 80s when I was a teenager. There were lots of these cars around in the region I live during that time. I loved the looks and sounds of these cars and this captured me since then.
Since a few years I switched my "car pool" from german makes to american brand cars, now driving a ´93 Pontiac Trans Sport as a daily driver and my ´84 Ford LTD crown victoria station wagon, while my wife owns a ´09 Dodge Journey. So all the "big three" are represented...:)
My Ford still needs some work, but is already driving very well, very comfortable.
To me, the station wagons are representing the "true" american cars, providing the family with enough room for weekend or holiday trips, enabling a high level of transportational freedom.

And now I am really looking forward to be a member of this community here!
    Thanks for your time,

    Matt

Welcome Matt. Great and clean looking wagon. Nice introduction. It amazes me of all the people in other countries owning and loving American cars when we just take them for granted. The extra expense and problems getting parts makes it even more amazing.

Thanks to all for your warm welcome!
This series of Ford wagons is extremely seldom seen here in Germany, in fact, I never saw one in real before I had mine. There are some existing, but not many. As far as I know, the car never has been imported "officially" in Germany. Mine was running in Luxembourg for about 29 years and then brought to Germany by myself. So far I replaced the exhaust system, fixed the driver seat (seat back was twisted somehow due to a broken reinforcement tube) and did some minor work on the engine. Suspension, water pump, some minor rust and headliner is still to come.

    @ModelT1:
I love American cars since I was a kid, always preferred them for the style, look and coolness factor ;-).
And in fact, you may be surprised, but nowadays, it´s so easy to order the parts in the U.S. and, even more surprising, despite shipping, customs charges, fees etc., most of the parts are still much CHEAPER as similar parts bought here in Germany for European made cars.:29: modular design and therefore huge quantities rule!

    :Welcome: aboard Matt,
It's nice to see other station wagon enthusiasts from abroad that like American cars.. Your '84 Ford wagon is quite clean and a nice find...I like the color, too.

Thank you for taking the time to properly introduce yourself and submit pics of your pride and joy.

It's funny how our foreign members like US cars and many US members like foreign cars. I happen to like vintage VW's and Porsches, and have owned a few in my time.

    Jack:)

    Hi Jack,

thanks for your post and kind words.
hehehe, you know that, the grass is always greener on the other side...:)
The point is, here in Germany, all you see the whole day are Audi, BMW, Mercedes, VW etc. Most of them are black, it´s so hard to find your car on the parking lot. With my Ford, I just have to look down the rows, the one pointing out with the reat is mine...:rofl2:
And in fact I had a lot of German cars in my automobile past, among these a Corrado G60 and a ´79 Beetle that I still own, but my heart beats for the American cars.

    Thanks again!

    Matt
