I thought it was time to join and get the full benefit of being a member instead of peaking in. I have a 48,000 mile 65 Country Squire in excellent condition, just needs paint and woodgrain (who doesn't need wood grain). I found enough NOS decal rolls for that year to do the car complete, picking up a roll here and there from all over the country. Hope it works. Found you have to paint a brown color behind the decal so that's my next quest to find right color. My dad bought a 65 Squire new, so I traveled all over the country in the opposing seats in the back. I remember going to the dealership with him and my brother to pick out the color scheme and making a special order. A maroon color with a plain Jane 289 3 speed stick on the tree with no A/C or power anything. Nope, none of that fancy stuff for dad. We pulled a 1948 Mobile Sporstman camper all over creation (still have the camper, needs restoring). Trying to get to the camper resto this year. Also, all in excellent condition: 67 GTO Convertible 65 Olds Delta 88 Holiday 66 Chevy C20 W/4 speed
Welcome. Sounds great that you can relive the past with your own wagon and the old family R.V. Lots of memories for us camping all over Indiana. Enjoy the forum and your projects.
Welcome Hoosier! Where from Indiana are you? As to your search, the people on here seem to know everything you'd need about cars, and wagons specifically! They've been a huge help.
A correction after ModelT1's comment about "reliving past with my own wagon". I bought this one out of West Palm Beach Florida at Rag Tops car sales/museum. Rag Tops is located in an old 30's Cadillac dealership timber frame building with a wood framed elevator to transport vehicles to the second floor, really cool place. This one is fully loaded with a 390. The old family wagon was passed down to my brother and me to just have the hell beat out of it and dragging all our friends around and was the party wagon if you know what I mean. Plus girl friend action and alike. Those were the days. Wish I still had the old wagon.
to SWF. Nice intro, thanks. It's ok to post a few pics of both the wagon and the camper, when you get a chance. We also have a thread for non wagon cars/trucks. So you could chat and post a few pics of your other cars too if you like.
I'm going to have to adjust my phone camera because all the photos of my personal cars are over sized and won't download
YOu might want to create a Flickr, or other photo sharing site, account. Messing with these forums boards and their weird requirements is not worth the hassle since you can just link external pics. Just a thought.
Or try these free sites............. Fotosizer or FastStone Photo Resizer. I use Fotosizer a lot because it is simple, like me! You are just downsizing your own pictures then you go to MANAGE ATTACHMENTS below to find them in your albums. They end up as thumb nails.
I think you have my wagon confused with someone else's. I haven't posted any finished pictures, although the previous owner may have. I'm not going for a stock look on my wood grain. In fact I'm even toying with the idea of a zebra wood look on the trim and doing a vinyl engine turned stainless steel look for the body. If the engine turned part is cheap enough, I can always change it if I don't like the look. I'm also going to do a full color change to pale yellow and take the seats to the darker medium palomino from palomino. The brown interior metal trim color is 1704 med. palomino metalic 9054-LH. The vinyl color that goes with that is AMY68V. Mixing the darker shade of brown with the pale yellow I think will be a looker. Present chores are cleaning the 50+ years of crud off the bottom, swapping out a new steering ram, replacing bad valve cover and oil pan gaskets. Paint is scheduled for next month.
