I'm pi$$ed! MTS is our major landline, cell, and digital TV provider. They made a deal with Microsoft to hand off their email service to Microsoft via OUTLOOK.COM on its Live.com system, back about 4 years ago. I wasn't shopping online back then. I've got one ebay item coming in, I think, from an EBAY.COM vendor. I bought the item on March 13, got a SHIPPED notice on the 15th, and neither the Tracking or Status links worked - they sent me to a Page Not Found EBAY page. So I wrote to the vendor via EBAY's system. He finally replied to my real email address and asked for the item number. I sent it from my destop (MS Office Outlook) and get a message blocked notice from EBAY! Because my MS OUTLOOK.COM email address is @mymts.net, not @mts.net!!! And now, MTS will switch us back to their system in a month or two. They used their server space for cellular messages (we don't like electronic dog leashes). Nor do we have even rabbit ears on the square eye (TV). No tube addictions here. My guess is that MS is pushing off 3rd party (MTS) companies in non-USA countries because our new, improved spy agencies (3 new ones) want to spy on us, and MS doesn't want them poking around on their servers. Meanwhile us common shmucks get twiddled around. Bull!
Well the EBAY vendor finally got to me, via eBay's email. The part is on the way! One rare beastie. A Fox ford Premium sound amplifier switch. I've been chasing that down for 10 years! This one is in a Fox Mustang dash. The switch above, on mine, is for the tailgate window wiper and pump. I also got an NOS switch for a 1980 TBird, which works with my 1984 Mustang AM/FM/Cassette deck, which came out of a Premium Sound Mustang, but the switch and harness was missing, and I've got 3 of the stock amplifiers. The TBird switch mounts facing the driver. The Fairmont and Mustang switch pulls down, but the mounting system to adapt the TBird switch is a simple change of the bracketing. I scooped a pair of 6 X 9 Premium sound rear speakers from a 1989 Lincoln in perfect condition, and Premium Sound door speakers from a 1978 Bill Blass Lincoln, and new dash-mounted speakers in the stock location, so now I'll cruise to my favourite tunes in mellow tones.
Always nice to find those rare parts. It's even better to have them in your very own clamy dirty hands!
I've stroked that TBird switch a few times, and even the original Motorcraft box that it came in. The other one went from Indiana, to Kentucky to finally start its trek up my town. I studied complex math problems in college, and one of those was the Salesman's Route. How does a road sales rep get the most distance efficiently between places. The solutions don't seem logical on the surface, USPS uses that method. Man are they efficient, really. Ours is still 100 years behind, unless the tax man wants money.
What amazes me is our son 1000 miles away in Illinois can order me a small computer part from around the world and I get it here in the Florida boonies in days for pennies. I can order something 50 miles away in the big city and I might get it in a week or so. Usually the shipping is near the cost of the part then. Did you know that UPS trucks almost never turn left when in town?
UPS is superstitious? As a soldier, we were always told to start marching "By The Left, Quick March!" I know what you mean about local deliveries. Only the flyers and bad news come quickly.
From what I've heard about UPS is they believe in safety and it's not as safe turning left across oncoming traffic. Supposedly they schedule their deliveries to turn right then if necessary go straight across an intersection to the other deliveries. Of course this may not be true. I've been told a few things which are not true and believed them. I've led a sheltered life.
It didn't take me too many years to stop believing the politicians. The biggest things I hate about election time is all they do is down grade each other. We rarely hear the good things. Well, except for our President. Everything about him is............ sorry I just can't go on!
I think partisan politics has done more to silence our representatives than anything else. We send folks from our towns and cities to speak for us, folks we know have served us well locally, and they're muzzled by the parties. Too bad, because democracy isn't a museum piece, its a basic hope for our nations. And then they slither into our lives, on every possible media. We cut off TV when Canada went digital, and gained 26 hours of viewing time to our own lives, instead of living surrogate lives through propaganda, bad ads, and 22 minutes of a dubious TV soap-opera. That was 4 years ago! and now we chuckle when they call to ask if we want to upgrade our TV service! "Don't have TV", 'end of call'!
TV Rant We have a 60" TV in the living room that hasn't been turned on since digital. It's only there because it's too big and awkward for my wife to carry outside. I just look at it now and then and remember when TV was actually fun to watch. It's on wheels. I suppose I could get it out but it is not bothering me. I actually bought a new 46" flat screen for our house 1000 miles away. It's sitting on the floor waiting to go o a wall. At least there we can use a new digital antenna and get 15 local stations. Maybe one will have news and weather on it. At this time I don't even believe the weather people.
If you get one of those cables, you can connect the big digitals to the computer. Then you can watch the weather and see how big those weather icons really get! Once we get things done upstairs, I'm gonna start on the media room in the basement, and use a good quality ceiling projector to hook everything in, and run it on a big roll-up screen. A lot less money. The bulbs are good for 3,000 hours. At $300 a pop, I can live with that.
