My 64 comet station will run great for a few miles then cut off dead!!! Let it sat a few min. , it starts right up and maybe last maybe 5 or more miles. I unhooked the sun tach green wire from the coil no more cut offs . My Question is WHY----or how come this is happening ???? Dennis

If the problem really has gone away with the tach disconnected (as opposed to this just being an intermittent problem that hasn't reoccured yet), then obviously the problem is either a loose wire or solder joint inside the tach or an intermittent short in the feed wire from the coil to the tach. Keep in mind that the problem could also have been an intermittent in the wire connection at the coil that you "fixed" when you disconnected the tach wire.

Thanks for the reply! I called the Sun Tech support this AM , and they said this problem happens a lot with older Techs. He also told me to take the brown wire and unhook it from the Ballast Resistor ( which is what I have) and put it to a good Nev. ground , then hook the green wire back to nev side of the coil. I haven't done this yet--- but look out !! ") Anyway I 'll let ya'll know. Dennis in Va. 22485 zip
