Great canvas to start with, but where to people dream up these prices now? A $1200 set of wheels and cheap tires, and two pieces of NOS trim does not add that much value to a $2000 car, IMO.
Reading the ad, my guess is he bought the car as is, but who knows. I sent him an email, we will see how serious he really is about selling it. Depending on his experience, it may take a while for him to come to reality of acv.
Why wouldn't he put his e-bay offered 427 in the car? Make it a running/driving big block car? Could that be the original engine?
Based on the outline of the fender emblems you see, it was at least a 396 wagon. Then again, a lot of these had 396's in them when they were new. Quite common at least in So Cal. Guy is nuts with his price. If the body was totally straight and it had a decent interior, I could maybe see that price, but since pretty much everything needs to be done on it, $6,500 is no deal.
Here is his engine ad http://grandrapids.craigslist.org/pts/4914111890.html Can't make out the numbers on the plate, but doesn't look like it matches the vin number on the other ad, should be stamped with 121924
