For everything you wanted to know about station wagons check the following. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Station_wagon#History
I can't believe you've been a member on this STATION WAGON forum and you finally got up the nerve to ask the question?
I'm a slow learner. Actually I wasn't asking the question. I just made it the title so others could read about station wagons.
A Station Wagon? I love seeing them in old cowboy flicks. (Appaloosa, and Unforgiven) I love driving them, especially mine. I had all kinds (77 cars and trucks) since and before I got my license, Riverias, Porche, Corvair Monzas and a Corvair pickup), VWs, Big hemi Mopars, but my 1969 Poncho wagon, then a 1971 Plymouth wagon and 2 Fairmont Wagons made me a convert. Passengers, Long trips, grocery getting, comfort, convenience, lumber and materials. And after this latest resto, a bit more power (70 HP more) and more driving fun. Mine's got all the toys a Caddy has, and one that Caddys never get - 4-speed stick shift. Fun!:2_thumbs_up_-_anima
No tick intended...unless you feel tricked. I actually read that awhile ago, it is really informative. Thanks for sharing the info. And I'm also very impressed that you are venturing out into the great beyond with your PC...congratulations.
I even read all anyone would want to know about containers and container houses. Shockingly I couldn't imagine paying what some of those places cost when built. They are supposed to be low cost affordable housing. We got a three BR house with basement and two car garage a lot cheaper, furnished. Also found out they sell containers and even moditfied containers in central Illinois. I think one would make a nice quick spare garage or workshop. But most places zoning would make them impossible. Now me and my PC are gonna venture off to dream land. 2015 will still be there in the morning.
Only one of our own could give us the perfect definition of what a station wagon is, and means. RIP my friend.
And as Cronkite used to say, "That's how it was folks." And still is. Almost makes me wonder about painting my Fox-bodied Fairmont, silver. He left a fine legacy.
Upon reading silverfox's thoughts, Sniff. Yes, Wagons are like friendly dogs and they sure do wag their tails when I take them for walks. Yes, they are family cars. I don't want to be unfair to the cars out today (meaning those cars made in the last ten years, 2005-2015 for future readers) but I haven't been car shopping nor have I looked at most cars around lately. But I do know the wagon has such a nice relaxing ride and the car can do a lot. And with proper maintenance, it (well, the same goes to any car) can last a long time.
