It's as much a station wagon as anything that looks like that these days, but no one calls them that, and I'm thinking that Lincoln would be horrified to learn that anyone was referring to this car as a station wagon. :)

It's a small SUV or perhaps a crossover or "CUV" (crossover utility vehicle). Lincoln calls it an SUV.

My daughter drives a 2012 Nissan Rogue. Is it station wagon? It has the shape of one, but it is not called that. It's a small SUV.

    Don't Degrade My SUV !

This is now a never ending discussion. Some would like to say they now drive a station wagon because they are station wagon lovers. Yet there are already names for these hatchback, crossover, SUV things.
As you put a 4X8 sheet of plywood or a dozen 8' 2X4's in the back keep saying.... I own a station wagon-- I own a station wagon. :biglaugh:
I'll admit most are nice looking and fairly well capable in handling several people, pets, and home improvement items.

I would say yes today, although these derived from truck chassis and vans in the early days of SUVs. Today they are used more like a station wagon than a truck. The "yuppie" set would die to hear that though!

    Enjoy your new SUV/station wagon!

I couldn't think of a single new car that I would want these days. They all look the same. However, I really like the look of the new Lincolns. At lest they have a distinctive grille.

I've driven my quad cab truck for ten years with no plans to sell or trade. However right now it has major issues we can't figure out after replacing head gaskets.
Even before this I decided we no longer need a large tall gas gussling truck since I no longer have a need to haul things or pull campers. That is after we get moved 1000 miles to illinois which may take several loads with a flat bed and eternity.
This leaves me wondering what in the world will I buy that I like, looks decent, gets good fuel mileage, is made in America, and I can afford. About the only thing I can think of right now is an Eleo!:cry::mad::mad:
In reality one of those smaller SUV's might just be what I need.

That's why I bought the MKT…..it ticks many of the right boxes for me.

    It's:
    American Made
A Ford product (I like that they did not take any Fed Money when things were bad)
    All Wheel Drive
    Room for 7 people
Room for lots of cargo (I have my pickup for big stuff)
    Rides like a car
    Fast

Good luck with that, or, don't go by the brand on the side of the vehicle.

According to USA Today's Made-in-America index, here's the top 10 2014 vehicles in terms of being assembled in America and having at least 75% U.S.-made part content.

Note that, after the Ford F-150, the next five and seven of the 10 overall are Japanese brands.

    1. Ford F-150; Dearborn, Mich., and Claycomo, Mo.
    2. Toyota Camry; Georgetown, Ky., and Lafayette, Ind.
    3. Honda Odyssey; Lincoln, Ala.
    4. Toyota Sienna; Princeton, Ind.
    5. Toyota Tundra; San Antonio
    6. Toyota Avalon; Georgetown, Ky.
    7. Chevrolet Corvette Stingray; Bowling Green, Ky.
    8. Honda Ridgeline; Lincoln, Ala.
    9. Honda Crosstour; East Liberty, Ohio
    10. Dodge SRT Viper; Detroit

If you don't want a truck, you could do best for the American worker by buying a Toyota Camry.

    It's "North" American made.

The MKT is assembled in Oakville, Ontario, Canada, at least according to Wikipedia.

There is a very interesting article about this subject in the January 2015 issue of Hemmings Classic Car. The article has all sorts of interesting facts, but one that really popped out, at least to me, is this:

"GM outsources almost two thirds of its jobs to other countries. And fewer than one-in-five GM vehicles are manufactured in the United States"

You can see at least the beginning of the article here:

The problem I have with all these new things is that they are front wheel drive-based, so the weight distribution is nuts, and working on them is front wheel drive difficult. Add A pillars the diameter of telephone poles, and I wi not drive one, period. I will stick with my old Panther platormed sedans and wagons or the even older mid- and full-sized Fords.

I don't really care for front wheel drive either. And my Dodge truck has A-pillars the size of small California Redwoods.
On the positive side the newer vehicles have back up monitors bigger than my computer screen with fancy lines and warning buzzers so you don't have to look back at the neighbor kids on the sidewalk.
Of course with 15 cupholders and heated gearshift what more could we ask for? Don't forget to order yours in grey or white so you'll have to hit the door button to find it at the mall. :biglaugh:

    Only 8 Cup Holders!
    Mine is All-Wheel-Drive not front.
They did a good job distributing the 365 HP to all wheels.
It does not have Front Wheel "squirlly-ness"….if you know what I mean.
No heated gearshift but the 4 heated seats and heated steering wheel are nice!:2_thumbs_up_-_anima
As far as being able to find it in the parking lot, there should be no problem.
Lincoln did not sell many of these…they are not very popular.
I like it though and that's all I care about.
