Yeah, the Derby post, right. And we have strong feelings about that. My oops is that a Pontiac Safari is now a van. tsynek's rationale is common, except when you start looking for rear quarter glass. There ain't many left, and when there aren't you end up with a sedan delivery. If the wagon is not cost effective as a car, there's some serious dollars in parts. Some kids blew my tailgate glass and a rear quarter glass with a BB gun. $900 bucks, and 3 months of winter driving with plastic sheeting and duct tape, and they were thinner than the originals. The trim doesn't fit right.:banghead3:
YES! Even glass is getting made cheaper. Try a windshield from a cheap vendor and it won't take the tiniest piece of gravel without chipping and then you have the creeping crack. I had a winsshield put in and it lasted a week! Some people with old cars that are rusted beyond repair don't realize that the car still has donor qualities. There are tons of parts that others would be glad to have. Glass, trim, seats, dash parts, engine parts, tranny parts, etc...etc. Why not let that car be a part of another ONGOING car?
i got the parts off that wagon. I agree about getting the parts off a demo car. I've got the rear windows and other goodies off that wagon. Make friends with the demo guys and you can get good stuff.
And......what about the REST of the good stuff that will be smashed to smithereens or blown up? Please...don't tell me there are none left. If that were true, the car wouldn't even run or move.
demo I must say I admire your wagon fever Silverfox. I can't argue that its sad that good cars and good parts (american history) are destroyed. If I was a rich man I would save many wagons. By the way if anyone knows who owns that 454 impala wagon tell him ill trade my sister and ill throw a nut in.
