Here's what I was told by Bill who went and looked at it.
    Paint is faded but decent.
No rust except for the compartment under the rear floor
Interior is burnt….badly! (Crispy, discolored, disintegrating etc…)
    Dirty velour seat covers.
Dash is severely cracked and has a cover on it.
Original rubber floor mat is in place and usable.
    Very dirty engine.
Runs and cruises down the highway very nicely.
    Tires are shot.
That's all I remember at the moment.

Have to say, that is a very nice looking Fairlane, but my guess is that we are really looking at a $4,000 car at the high end. The lack of equipment does affect value, as do the seats or seat cushions, which ever they are.

I sent Tony about a dozen pics, mostly of the interior. The car needs a major detail. The interior is badly sunburnt. If it were my car, I'd be looking at doing an entire new interior. The panel under the back end of the car isn't rusted thru, but is has scratches from carrying something around in it, needs sanded and painted, as does any all painted surfaces in the interior. Tires look ok, but are old and weather checked. The engine compartment looks to have never been touched. It is a dirty, oily mess. The outside is surprisingly straight, I noticed only one small dent or crease, around the driver's side rear wheel opening. I think the car would buff out pretty nicely. It is a very basic car, 302, 3 speed on column, manual drum brakes, manual steering, no ac, rubber floor mats. They think it's actual 62,000 mile car. They are the third owner, and I think just got the car. The prior owner, they say, used it to haul hay in the back. They are asking 6400.00 for the car. They told me they were told by someone on the Fairlane website that they could probably get 10 to 12K for the car. I don't know where, but not here.

I offered $4K and he did not even counter.
In fact he sounded offended (IMHO).

If he does….hopefully I'll be able to disappoint him by declining. LOL
Going to look at a 1967 Ford Country Squire tomorrow morning.
    Wish me luck! :2_thumbs_up_-_anima

I bought the 1967 Ford Country Squire I went to look at this AM.
    It's in my possession.
Leaving for a business trip, so I will not be able to play with it until next weekend.
I'll start a new thread with pictures and details next weekend.
Thanks again to Bill for going and looking at the other car for me.
I think I'll be happier with this one.
    Later!

Are you bragging or complaining? Glad you got a nice wagon.
