Hello, I found this forum as I was looking for information on the later Chrysler Town & Country wagons in addition to Mopar wagons. I currently own a 1990 Dodge Dakota Convertible 2wd truck and I attempting to sell it or trading it off potentially for a "Formal" Mopar C-Body or a Mopar station wagon. I'll be around here doing more research to make an informed decision.
Welcome to the forum........ That convertible Dakotas fairly rare, although I'm not sure it was necessarily a good idea. Chevy tried it with the SSR, and it wasn't exactly a winner. At least you have a usable bed. If you're looking for a classic Mopar wagon, my advice would be to 'go big or go home'. Get a nice big Town & Country or Dodge Monaco. Take your time finding the right one. Spend a bit more to get a solid wagon, not a 'project' you'll be money ahead in the long run. We've had some nice ones in our 'Auctions, Craig's List Section, where we post wagons for sale that we find out there in the big world of www......... (These are not wagons that SWF members have put up for sale, we just like to find them and critique the wagons and the ads....) Here's some we've recently posted: '73 T&C, Rhode island http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33017 Here's the latest E-bay link for it. 3 days to go on the auction: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1973-Chrysler-Town-and-Country-/161447637109?_trksid=p2054897.l4275 And here's the CL ad on the same wagon. It's NOT worth $15k.... http://providence.craigslist.org/cto/4685482219.html ------------------------------------------------------------ '76 T&C, rough condition. In Bend, Oregon, which is only about 100 miles from me. I could inspect it if you are interested. $2,800 http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33509 The e-bay ad is dead. Still on CL in my area: https://eugene.craigslist.org/cto/4708341487.html ------------------------------------------------------------ Most probably the best of this bunch - '77 Dodge Royal Monaco Brougham This car is in the Los Angeles area, and I know at least one SWF member was interested in it. Don't think it's sold yet. Sellers may be a bit flaky, based on contacts we've had. http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30545&highlight=Dodge Unfortunately, I can't find a current CL listing on this one, but that doesn't mean it's not for sale. We could do a little digging and get some contact info... Good luck with your search.... Marshall
Thank you everyone. As far as the Dakota Convertible is concerned it is a very cool truck. Mine has bucket seats which is pretty rare. The problem is I have outgrown it because it is a two seater and I am a big tall guy. I love the truck but, the bad part is I don't have any secure storage in the back and for some odd reason I thought I could do it with this truck but, all I can do is just a soft tonneau. At least in a wagon you have a locking unit and more room to haul groceries. The other problem is I blew my budget on this truck and with what I spent fixing multiple things I could of had a really nice wagon for a lot less. As for the SSR, is that even a truck? They're cool and would love to have one but, $24k is a little out of my budget for one. Anyways, in regards to the wagon; if I end up with one then I end up with one. Quite honestly, the RI 73 T&C you posted is cool but, a little nicer than what I need and a little out of budget at 10k. Quite honestly, I am looking to spend $6k and under. I think if I decided to trade my Dakota straight out I want to value it at 6.5-7k with all the work done because that took me a while to find one like this one as well. So, I know it's going to take time to find a wagon with a big block. I'm trying to stick with the Mopar stuff because it's what I am familiar with it. If I can't get a wagon then I will continue to my search for a nice 74-78 NY'er 2/4dr or Monaco 4 door or I might jump the Mopar ship and look for a nice AMC or GM fullsize wagon. I would consider a Ford too but, Mopar is where my heart is.
Marshall, thank you for the offer. The one for $2800 might have potential if it is not rusted really bad. I think the paint could buff out and if the mechanicals are good then it might be okay. But, I think I would offer $1800 to $2k for it if I could drive it across the country but, like I said I need to clear the Dakota first.
Thank you. I guess I didn't realize it but, we do own a wagon. I guess the Chevrolet HHR could be a wagon haha.
