Well, it's finally a done deal. I brought the '89 boxie home today. I've been searching for a while now, for a nice cruiser, close to home that didn't need a bunch of work to cruise and enjoy. (I gave up my beloved Suburban's ,when the kids left home. This boxie seems to be the next best thing fer cruisn') This one fills the bill, woodgrain is way far gone and the roof is a repaint. All the window's, switches and knobs work, the upholstery and carpets are very nice and the third seat looks like it has never been sat in. (I know it has, the PO had 4 kids, but you get the idea) Very clean, inside and out. It has the Old's 307 and the THM 200-4R. It runs smooth and shifts tight, overdrive is smooth in and out. It don't pull like my Eldorado, but hey, it's a smog motor. (when it dies, there is a 572 Caddy/ TH 400 hiding under the bench...) The first order of business is a trip to the window tint shop, for limo tint all 'round. Then I need to tend to the rubber parts shown in the pics. Any help sourcing the rubber would be much appreciated. Take a look, tell me what you think. Thanks, Paul
A nice base to start from.... 1. Rear fillers. 2. Search for a 'Limited' interior - seats and door panels
Wow, lucky you! And it's got those wheels on it! Mine came with them, but who knows where between Cincinnati and Vero Beach, FL they ended up. I need the same things you're looking for. Hope you love it as much as I would!
First up grade. Graduated limo tint, black on tailgate window and cargo glass, one grade lighter on back doors and two grades lighter on front doors. My tint guy said that leaving the "eyebrow" tint off the windshield helps with the "stealth" nature of the graduated style, you look more like a "citizen" 'specially with all the tuner kids trying to run 10 or 12 inch Eyebrow's of black tint , on the windshield, to look Cool. Sometimes it's good to be a well connected old fart... When I remember to put the reflective windshield piece in place, the interior temp is ~30 degrees cooler sitting in the sun. The tint guy claims 68% UV rejection, seems like more to me. I had a FHP buddy of mine come by and look at it. His only suggestion was to drop the front windows when stopped in daylight and turn on the dome light after dark, In his opinion, that will lower every bodies blood pressure. At night and in the rain, the black on the back glass might be a bit too dark, lowering the back window is a great help In tight backing situations. Sure is nice not having your retina's burned by those damned blue euro high beams when the jackass in the Mercedes is tailgating you in the middle lane on the highway... Comments? Paul
