Very pretty car, but someone needs to tell the selling it's a 5.0 Olds 307 engine, not a 5.0 Chevy 305.

If it had the Chevy engine...I'd like it more. 307's SUCK!

Are you sure, Mike? I thought all the later box wagons had the Chevy 305 - ?

If so, how do you tell by looking at the pic of the engine compartment?

This is from the car in the ad...

I once asked that same question....but of course I can't find that string now....from what I (think I) can remember, it had something to do with the location of the AC compressor and alternator..?

No KK, the later Box's all got the 307 Olds.

Oil filler is rite up front for starters..look at the letter 'C" on the caution fan and look straight back rite beside the AC. The other dead give away is the AC on passenger side, Alternator is on drivers side, = 307 Olds. Chev 305 =, oil filler is on drivers valve cover, Alternator is on passenger side, AC on drivers side.

My 1989 Pontiac Safari had the Olds 307. OML, it was sooooo slow!

    Don't Care

If I had the money to buy this wagon it would be mine and I wouldn't care if it had the 305 or 307 as that is easily rectified. Pull the original mill lube it up properly, wrap it plastic or put it in a crate in the back corner of your garage , then go get a GM crate engine with 350/400 hp and beef up the 700R4 or 200R whichever it has and now you have an original car with a modern power train. I don't like the cheesy factory wire wheels either and they would be changed forthwith if I had the car.

The eighth character of the VIN will tell you if it has the 305 or the 307.

This VIN is: 1G1BN81Y3KR127247, so this is the Olds 307 engine. The 305 Chevy would be an "E"
