Thanks. Yeah, I'm questioning why I'm doing it myself. I've been working 22 days on in NV and 8 days off. This isn't how I want to spend my days off. I went ahead and bought a 12 ton press. Since it's a Harbor Fright, I figure it's more like half of that or less. The only problem is you need a garage full of scrap steel to make tools to use the press. I was able to cobble a few things together. I got them all out and the ones that I have installed. I had to order another set to get the one I damaged. It also helps to have 4 hands. My dad helped quite a bit. He's a retired machinist and had a lot of advice.

Thanks for the response. I removed the old carb and it was eaten up/coated from the "10% E gas"...Or "bad gas", also the hard lines were rusting and the tank had places starting to rust. Was advised to use "non ethanol" gas whenever possible, and an additive whenever using the ethanol. Now new stainless hard lines, coated tank , new soft lines made from fuel injection hose, should minimize the problem. We have also located "non ethanol stations everywhere we cruise. Should have it up and running in a few weeks.

worked on the old roadmaster wagon again this weekend. Had to replace the fuel line and return line ends. Both where totally rusted off. Received the nice used tank on Friday and cleaned it up and it is all ready to go. My son noticed that the tank straps where just a bit to thin (rusted) for his or my liking so we ordered a new set from rock auto. Once those are here the tank will go in and the mighty roadmaster will be on the road again!!!:yippee:

Replaced window guides on the drivers window, both rear windows. Did a DIY yourself tint on the passenger windows, the side rear glass (both sides) and the small vents. Not perfect but for the first time it will do. Not bad for $30.00 including spray bottle, squeegee, J&J No Tear Baby soap.

How's that? The driver's window on the Mercury has been acting up since purchased; Sometimes it's fine but other times it's jiggly going up and down. Would replacing window guides fix that?

    Photos?

As for the Mercury, I gave my Mother a drive in it on Sunday. She's pretty impressed with it. I also believe the car has been refinished since I looked closer, and that the rear window was broken once and replaced. (I found broken glass in the door while I had it apart about ten days ago.)

Most likely the plastic bushings in the window motor gear need to be replaced. It's a pretty common Ford repair.

My wagon started blowing smoke under deceleration a few weeks ago and it took me a while to pin down the cause which I finally did last week. Broken head bolt all the way at the rear of the head on the driver-side. Whooda thunk it? :slap:

Glad I have alternative transportation handy while I delve into this repair.
