Good evening one and all. I have finally started to get my Buick woodie wagon cleaned and shiny. I did a cut and buff today. I polished all of the roof rack, and cleaned the mounting pieces. I also did a cut and buff on the roof. Wow that was a real chore. Also, did a thorough cleaning on the factory mag wheels.k a small brush between all of the spokes. One thing I want to try and take care of is a dent on the drivers door. It is kind of a push in dent, and it appears that it could be pushed out from the inside. My thinking is remove the door panel and push it out. My dilemma lies in the I am having trouble removing t he door panel. I can't figure out how to get the pull strap off, I could also use any helpful tips that some one might have. Thanks again, I'll get pics poste din a day or two. Craig
IIRC, there are two trim covers (one at each end) and very gently pry them off without breaking them to expose the screws at each end. The armrest should have at least two, if not three, holes near the bottom going from the bottom at an angle upward. They both hold the door panel in a major way.
The pic provided is from a 90, and just like my 87. there are no screws under those trim covers, just rivets and they only riveted to the door panel itself, NOT the door. The strap handle comes off with the entire door panel. Those plastic covers are brittle and you stand a better chance of breaking them than not, don't try to remove them as it's not necessary Yes the arm rest will have screws, should need the large #3 Phillips screw driver to remove those. Then with a thin pry bar gently pop the door panel clips out. You then will be able to remove the door panel to a point where you can unplug you window/lock switches. How ever though, we have not seen your dent..... try a wet plunger of the door, it may just pop out. Depending on the dent, you may have a bit of it left after.
Door panel, dent in the door Well, the dent is finally out, and the door panel never did come off. I read the replies, and grabbed my glass suction holders, for putting windshield and glass in place.wet down the door dent and the suction cup, pushed into place, set the suction cup and pop, it is out. Yes a couple of very small dents but those I can live with until the dent doctor gets around to giving me a quote. Yahoo, thank you guys, I appreciate the effort you made to help, and it did help. Success!! Craig
Good job Boxtr. I use my suction cup dent-puller first. It usually gets most of it out anyway. I'm glad that worked!!
