As I sit and think I can not remember if my 1972 Gran Torino wagon had the third seat. We had three rugrats so I woud think so. Still I bought it to pull an RV and the second seat was enough for the kids. I know it was black vinyl.
I didn't take many photos years ago or save the ones I had.:camera:Cameras were nothing like the digital things today. Remember Polaroids?

Not mentioned in the ad, either way. You'll have to contact the seller.....
If I had to guess, my answer would be 'no', since it's such a low-optioned model anyway.

The manual trans might just make this car livable. By '72 the weight was creeping up on these (the mid-sized Fords were newly on a full frame instead of unibody as before) and the power was creeping down. You might find the 302 with an automatic a little underpowered. You definitely wouldn't want a 302 with auto and air in the mountains of West Virginia where this car is. Some of those grades are pretty steep.

Note also, no power tailgate window. I would very much doubt there is a 3rd seat.

Looks like it's in nice shape, though.

Definitely rare and neat, but I just prefer high optioned wagons, especially high end trim models. I do not like manual transmissions either - not in a big car, especially a wagon - maybe ok in a small imported sports car, but that is as far as I care for them. No options on a high end model seems... well, ODD. LOL. I guess to some though, this is appealing. For me to want this car though, it would need to at least have A/C and be automatic. :)

This car with its unique options selection, (or lack thereof), had to have been one of two things. A) A customer had to have ordered it that way or B) The guy who ordered cars for the dealership inventory made a terrible mistake!! Maybe he thought the automatic was standard equipment and just forgot to add the ac. Certainly no dealer would've ordered it in '72 with a manual tranny and no ac for his stock. Like 72 Kingswood says, perhaps on a base Torino wagon but not on a Squire. Interersting that it has white walls instead of the black walls. 72, you may be right. Some guy probably wanted the look of a loaded out Squire but didn't have the bucks for the ac and automatic.
Regardless of the reasons for why it is the way it is, I like it alot.

Maybe they live in a barn, a very large barn. It was missing and now they found it.:49:

I remember when we regularly camped at a nice city park with RV camping and a nice swimming boating lake. We'd often walk all the way around it rather than drive to the beach. It took hours just to get to the other side. But years ago we spent much of our weekend walking.
Below the spillway was an old barn converted into a beautiful red house. I always wanted to do that! Also in our town was an old carriage house converted into a home. It was even on the city register of preserved antique places. We've seen other barns converted to homes and a few with a mobile home inside rough looking old barns.
    Now those are barn finds!

He never says its a barn find.. He says "Some would call it a barn find" I'm assuming because its been garaged for so long..

I think this car is great.. I've left 2 voice mails for them but have had no call back..

Either they are seeing I'm from up North and figure I'm not serious, or I'm low on the list of people that have already called..

I'd agree that this is most likely a customer special order. No "soccer mom" in 1972 would much like a Gran Torino Squire with manual transmission and no a/c, so a dealer sales manager would never order this without a/t and a/c to just sit out on the lot! :yup:

More possible news - per the brochure, power steering was also optional. Ad does not mention it. Anyone see any evidence of a power steering pump in the under-hood photo?

According to this sales info I paid $3100 for a 1972 Gran Torino wagon plus I had the 351 4-barrel and power steering.
Danged after AM radio, tinted glass, white walls, bumper guards, AC, automatic trans, power brakes, and maybe more, no wonder I had to work overtime!
I do know I wasn't a good wheeler dealer. I always wanted whatever I was looking at and the dealers new it! I'm not even sure if I ordered mine or it was in stock. Auto row was on the main drag out of town and I passed all the dealerships on the way to work and back and other times. More than one red vehicle caught my eye.
I never broke the habit. My red Dodge truck here in Florida kept staring at me for months from the front row! Look at me---buy me!:49:

I think so. It looks like there's a power steering pump in the lower right corner. There are definitely what appear to be p/s hoses visible right next to it. It wouldn't surprise me if power steering was a "mandatory option" with the V8 engine.
