Found this straight, rust-free, 390 patina wagon at a junkyard. 60,000 miles. CA car. Disc brakes. Paid $550 (not including the change under the seats).

Pulled the motor and trans. Motor looks great but doing a performance build. 428 crank =(410ci), flat top pistons, Edelbrock heads, intake, carb. Cast Ford headers (short).

Engine bay is now detailed. Just got the front suspension apart. After detailing the undercarriage, Eaton 2" drop springs, QA1 shocks and 1 1/8 sway bar going in.

Interior now gutted, cleaned, painted. No floor rust! Carpet kit and re-upholstered seats will go back in.

Need a fuel tank! Original is rusted out. Fuel cell in truck or custom tank if we can't find one.

Also need a hood. Had a trailer-unloading mishap when a pulley broke and sent the car coasting into my work truck.

My 17 year old son and I will flat-black the hood and clear coat the patina paint. Mini-tubs and wide meats are planned. Tinted windows.

My son started a rock band (www.viam-vitate.com). He's the drummer. This will make a cool gig-mobile plus street-strip cruiser.

Doing the project on a modest performance budget, hoping to have a little equity when done.

    Thanks, guys.

I guess my last build technically qualifies as a station wagon, and if not, gearheads should still enjoy it:

1970 early Bronco: 302, C4, Dana 44 front with chebby power disc brakes, 9 inch rear, 4.88 gears, HD 31 spline shafts, lockers, low gear kit in xfr case, Saginaw PS w/HP chebby pump, 3.5 in flexy suspension, 2 in body lift, 37in IROK's on 15x10 aluminum rims. Rubicon proven.

:Welcome:to the forum. Looks like a great junkyard project. Just shows there are some nicer vehicles in salvage yards than on the streets. Nice they saved it.
    Love these father/son/daughter builds.

Perhaps getting a bit off topic here, but I'm sure gearheads appreciate more than just wagons.

I put a new high performance front suspension under my 1966 Mustang Fastback C Code 2+2 over the winter. I entered a local car show last month just to give myself a deadline to finish it.

I unexpectedly won "Best Ford", so I entered another show/parade today and won 1st Place in the post-1940 Automobile category.

Beautiful fastback! My first car was a 65 Fastback. Had it for 10 years, then sold it to buy a mini-van in 1995, when my first kid was born. Doh!! Wish I had borrowed the money for the van.
