Welcome Vic and good luck on the Volvo wagon and filling the back end full of gold from them thar hills of Kalifornee.
Keep quiet if you strike it rich. We don't need anymore gold rushes.
    |I suppose kissin a Volvo wagon is better than kissin a mule like our Forefathers and five mothers did.

That top one sounds perfect for a gold hunting mule in the hill country. After all, it's gonna get scrapped and scratched wandering over hill and dale. But both are worth checking out.

    Cool a real viking!

:Welcome: aboard Vic. Just a suggest, perhaps a 4x4 AMC might be better for what you have in mind?
Either way good luck with your search.

    :)

I would suggest concentrating on the 245s (but keep your eye out for a 145) as they will tend to be more reliable and easier to work on than the later models and I wouldn't even consider the newer wrong wheel drive monstrosities.

I too am a fan of the B20 engines as I am not fond of timing belts but most of the later pushrod engines used fiber (AKA plastic) gears which throws away most of the advantage of timing gears.
