Hi. I'm mainly a Mustang and Goldwing guy, but I do have a yearning for..... A 1975 Ford LTD Country Squire silver station wagon for awhile now and ran across this forum. I know my chances of finding that exact year and model are slim to none, but I took my driving test in one back in 1978 and I'd like to find one to make into a daily driver. My dad bought it new when the Ford dealer here in town went out of business back in 1975. Didn't think much about it then, although I did think it was a pretty cool looking wagon with those hidden headlights!! Any help would be much appreciated!! Larry
Welcome, Larry, to the SWF. I'm sure we can help you find a nice '75 Country Squire. That color may be a problem, though. There's this silver one that was shot right here in my town a couple of years ago by the 'Curbside Classics' web blog I don't think you want this one. There's green stuff growing on it.......... If you can get around the color issue, I'm sure you'll find a nice one out there. (Note also, the big Ford wagons from '75 - '78 were all pretty similar, so you could go for a different year, as well.) Good luck with the search. Marshall
Thanks Marshall!! I've seen that one on the internet and wondered how I could get a hold of it. LOL That's EXACTLY what I'm looking for!! Minus the green stuff, of course. PS.... SERIOUSLY, IF I could find one like in your picture I'd be happier that a fat puppy chasing a parked car!
Also, I'm open to some different colors and years, 69-78 mostly. A 1977 LTD II white woody wagon would be cool too, but I think the chances finding one of THOSE are even more remote! My wife thinks they are the ugliest things, so even IF I find one, and I survive the purchase, I'll probably have the whole thing to myself. Larry
If you're open to different, but similar wagons let's find you one that your wife may like. I'm thinking that she might like the look of the Mercury Colony Park a bit better? ('74 shown) Or maybe it's the huge size of these wagons that put her off? Your '75 would have been about 225" long. If that's the case, then maybe the slightly smaller ones from '79 - '91 might fill the bill (these are the ones I really like....). The length on them is only around 215" - about 10" shorter. They much more modern than the earlier ones, having electronic fuel injection (after about '82) and a few other nice features. Country Squire ('87 shown): Mercury Grand Marquis Colony Park (Not sure on the year of this one. Looks like maybe a '84/'85):
Franklin, Wisconsin - '87 Grand Marquis Colony Park http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-...ed&searchRadius=500&listingId=370691506&Log=0 Just throwing this one in. These '91 - '96 GM full-size wagons are well-liked here on the forum - many owners Columbus Craig's List: '94 Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon http://columbus.craigslist.org/cto/4453591904.html '96 Roadmaster (no wood), also Columbus in CL $3,900 http://columbus.craigslist.org/cto/4417964010.html Another '94 on Columbus CL, Fredericktown $3,000 http://columbus.craigslist.org/cto/4431459458.html And just for giggles, a '56 Nomad project in your area, only $19,950 (I'll bet you could get it for $16k......) http://columbus.craigslist.org/cto/4388098227.html
Thanks, but I'll stick with the 69-78 models. Not keen on the Mercurys either for some reason. I'm in no hurry anyway.
Hi Larry to SWF... if you haven't figured it out yet we like SOPM just as much as our wagons. Good luck with the wagon search.
