It's closer to me than you know it, listed as "(Campbell River) " puts it on my island apx 4 hours away....... and I have no $.

Better pics would be nice, front end needs some serious stance adjustment also.... I'd love to see and own this one.

Don't know what makes it a 'Special Edition' model...
I don't recall AMC having much in the way of 'special' models during the 60's, except for those 3 different Classic wagons they did around '69 or '70 - one with whitewashed-look Di-Noc, one with 'leather-look' and a third with (something else I don't remember).

This one does look to have deluxe trim though - more than the normal amount of chrome trim.

I sure hope the passenger side is crushed and mangled or else I'll never get this one out of my head! This one just might be one of those, "I should of" moments.

Like Krash, I don't see what makes it a "Special Edition" unless someone things adding chrome to it counts. Collectable Automobile did an article on these cars, and there was no mention made of a special package anything like this on the Classic, and they include any regional packages they can find any information about. It is, no doubt, a beautiful car, but personally, I would not really want it with the six cylinder engine.

Don't know about a special edition but it looks very special to me. Ramblers and sixes just go together (like a horse and carriage) IMO.

    WOW! :yippee:
I mean it's a piece of junk. The other side is rusted clear through and the doors are missing. Forget it!

    She is all mine :)

Just joined the forum tonight and what do I see but my new rambler. This is one of those things I have always heard and read about and now I have enjoyed it or at least my own version.
The car was purchased on Vancouver Island at Plimleys on Yates St here in Victoria. They sold and interesting assortment of makes with Austin Jaguar and Rambler sharing the same showroom. The fellow who bought it brand spanking new in 1966 is named Joe and is now 85 and one very nice man, it was not only great to see the car to meeting him was very cool too. He has decided to slow on driving after all these years and decided it was time to sell the Rambler.

I had spotted it on Craigslist within hours of being posted and sent an email. we arranged by phone to meet up. After arriving on Saturday fairly early as planned we called to say that we were coming over. Which ones are you asks Joe's wife..hmmm. So we were not the only ones who were interested and on their way to see the car .timing is everything sometimes...:)
After driving over to where the car was located ,Joe met me in the driveway of his immaculately kept house and yard. He opened up the garage and there was this dusty beauty before a word was spoke I knew I was buying it. The car was on blocks and full of toilet paper because as Joe said " One heck of a sale on it at Walmart, so I bought lots" From the front seats back the entire car was full!!
He hopped in and turned the key and she started right up albeit with a little smoke in the closed door confined space of his garage. In the picture from craigslist it has wire hubcaps on, Joe had purchased them later and was very attached to them and try as I might he would not part with them. It now has the ones it was purchased with and I much prefer them.
My special edition doesn't have a lot of options from what I can tell. Here is a quick list:
    232 6 one barrel
Interior basically mint seats like new
    Rambler factory floor mats
Lots of chrome and stainless detail
    ---Now it gets better :)
Car restored with bills in approx 89 (5400 total bill 1989 money)
    Full paint and body work
    Interior Seat covers replaced
    New Carb with parts carb
    new fuel pump with spare
    new alternator with spare
new turbo muffer and pipes with chrome slash tip no less
New coils heavy duty front and rear ( ride height up front comes from this)
    new coil over shocks rear.
I put brand new bf goodrich radial ta's that I had bought for my corvair turbo but right tire right time and they look good in my opinion
    A CB radio and a cassette player -- 10-4

    The niggling details
choke wasn't adjusted on the new carb - adjusted starts and runs like a watch
dash lights do not work -- fuses as the wiring is like new and never been messed with
    Headlights stuck on High..switch seized
rear window works with aid... any window advice much appreciated.
    windshield wiper motor almost seized

The journey home after we picked up the car was another story unto itself, but the car ran at 70 mph and kept up with traffic all the 300k /180 mile ride home. Have to say what a beaut. Can you tell I am a happy camper

Here is a video of my first encounter with the Rambler now known as Floyd..

    Pictures more to come

Sounds like it is as good as it looked in the photos! Glad to hear it went to a good home.
