Wow, GREAT LOOKING wagon! Love the two-tone color, don't love the ad. Interior pics and basic info on the car would go a long way, assuming the seller really wants to sell. :camera::coffee:

I e-mailed for interior and engine pics. We'll see if I get any. It does look like they've taken very good care of it - look at the chrome.

What engine would likely be in this?

First guess would be the 305 5.0L. But I THINK there may have been a 4.4L offered too..?

If this one wasn't 3,000 miles away, I'd looking closely at it! :banghead3:

I'm not too far away. I may need to check it out. Price seems pretty good to you?

I'm impressed with the condition. I really hope I get some interior and engine pics. Looks like if it had a 4.4, might be a dog. Big car for a small engine. Maybe good mpg though.

I wasn't sure if the 350 was still available in 1980, and it wasn't.

    Quote...

    1980–1985..........
The base V8 engine was new for 1980. The 4.4 L 267 cu in V8 rated at 115 hp (86 kW) and was the standard engine for station wagons. This engine had a Rochester Dualjet carburetor, and was not available in California. The 2-barrel carburetor on the 305 cu in (5.0 L) V8 was replaced with a four-barrel increasing the 305's output to 155 hp (116 kW). This was now the most powerful engine option (standard on California station wagons), as the 350 cu in (5.7 L) V8 was no longer available, except as part of the police package option. The Oldsmobile-built 350 cu in Diesel V8 was added to the option list for station wagons. This engine was rated at 105 hp (78 kW) and 205 lb·ft (278 N·m).

    and just a FYI,

    1986–1990......
The 4.3 L V6 engine received a 10 hp (7.5 kW) boost, rated at 140 hp (100 kW). The 305 cu in engine was unchanged and remained standard on station wagons. Station wagons built after approximately November 1, 1985 came equipped with the Oldsmobile-built 307 cu in engine. After this point, the 305 cu in was no longer available in station wagons. This engine was used in all GM B-body station wagons from this point on to simplify production. The 307 cu in was equipped with a four-barrel carburetor and was rated at 140 hp (104 kW) and 255 lb·ft (346 N·m).

That does look nice. It's fairly similar to the 1984 Caprice wagon my Dad bought new.

I'm jealous you're so close, lol. From what little is revealed in the ad, yes the price SEEMS very fair to me; fair enough that I'd race you to go check out.

Agreed on your engine comment. For me though, speed wouldn't be a big deal, as much as the engine's reputation for being reliable and easy to maintain. I don't tow anything and the heaviest cargo I would carry would be my two small dogs, lol.

If for no other reason than to be further teased, I look forward to hearing and seeing what you hear back from the seller!

Can anyone tell from the pics if those are the original wheels?

What I like about it is all the chrome. I love my whale but it would be nice to have a wagon with more shiny stuff. Sure beats all the newer cars with plastic bumpers

    Thanks, didn't think so.

Do they look OK? I'm not so sure.

That would be my least favorite thing on that wagon, just my opinion but a nice rally wheel or torq thrust style
wheel looks great on them. The knock off rally wheels are like $380 for a set shipped to your door. I definitely
wouldn't let the wheels stop me from buying it if it is nice as it seems.

My least favorite too. I would bring back the original look with standard size wheels & hubcaps, tires with a thin whitewall (which it seems to already have as far as tires are concerned). :dancing:
