Looks like a GREAT car to own. Not much rust visible, either, and none in the 'normal' and hard to fix parts, either. REALLY hope someone get this old girl and fixes her up. She's way too good for the Derby!
Got a chuckle out of the cork in a bathtub analogy...gotta remember that one. I too hope somebody rescues this one...very rare and if it's still in as good mechanical shape as the seller claims, well...regardless, it deserves a good home no matter what. P.S. Is that a '56 Chevy I spy sitting in front of the wagon?
Why does seeing a car of this era in the snow make me wonder if there's frame rust? Is it because I live in the salt belt?
It's in Colorado and I am in Pennsylvania. I don't think I'm going to buy it (Though by the pictures it looks nice) but I thought I'd reply anyway so the thread may get more traffic and hopefully someone who wants to restore it will buy it.
Hi everyone, I have to say thanks to jwdtenn for posting this on here, I really appreciate it. This wagon is my mom's and she has given me permission to sell this car to help fund another car project. I found out about this thread from a member on here, I don't know the gent's handle, but I have talked to him a couple of times over the phone, as he seemed interested in a resto project. Anyway, I haven't heard from him in a couple of days, so I thought that I would see if I could find the post that caught his attention, and here it is. Again, thanks jwdtenn. A little info on the car if anyone is interested: My mom is the 2nd owner, the original owner was the next door neighbor and for the most part, took good care of it. The car's name is Matilda (and it kinda fits) & has been a daily driver up until about 8-9 months ago when she got a newer vehicle. The car does run good, it doesn't too much care for really hot weather (95+) as it tends to heat up. But past that, it is a good running wagon. It has 134k, all original miles. The interior does show that it was a daily driver. The driver's seat needs to be re-upholstered, carpet needs replaced and both the front door panels need repair. I think that the rear lift window motor is starting to go out, but, it's all original. What do you expect, right? As for frame rust that someone has mentioned, I have never seen a frame rust through here in Colorado, and from what I can see, this doesn't have frame rust. Anywhoo, the few conditions that my mom gave me when she agreed to sell Matilda was that #1 I couldn't part it out. Agreed, I don't want to see that happen what soever. #2 That she would prefer that it went to someone that wanted to drive and/or restore her. Again, I agree. #3 that it did not go to someone who wanted to run it in a demo derby. If someone told me that this was their plans for it, I'd point blank tell em no dice, find another car. So, that's the gist of the whole thing. If anyone is interested, or knows someone who is, please forward the info on to them. Matilda lives in Colorado Springs and has her entire life but is looking for a new home & someone who'll take care of her. Here is a link to more extensive pictures. http://s1316.photobucket.com/user/sbolt19/library/ Side note, yes that is a 55 Chevy in front of the wagon. It's a 55, 4-door Bel Air. There is also a 55 Chevy, 4-door 210 that shares a garage with a 56 Chevy 210 station wagon. The other car project that the funds from the Olds sale will go towards is a 66 Mustang Fastback, so at least it is going towards something good. Thanks again guys.
Hi guys, this car is my mom's, I created the ad and would really like to sell the car whole, to someone who wants it and doesn't want to turn it into a derby or parts car. Thanks to jwdtenn for finding the ad and posting it here. I have had one individual who was interested in it from the board here, but that interest seems to have waned as he hasn't got back to me since Monday. I have had several guys contact me about it, 3 want to part it, one is a derby guy and another wants me to ship the glass to Australia. I don't really want to sell the car to those guys because of what they want to do to it. If you are interested, please, pm me and I will get in touch & we can talk about it. I've uploaded additional pictures here for all to see. This was a daily driver for my mom until recently & she is the 2nd owner. Like I said, get in touch with me if you are interested. Thanks again.
The seller doesn't talk much about what works and what doesn't on the car, nor what options it has, but with that asking price, he doesn't have to. Some photos of the interior would be nice, too.
