I e-mailed the seller about 2 o'clock today but haven't heard back. I would think it would sell rather quickly at that price but who knows with some of the looks people give you when you say you are working on a station wagon. :D

Got a reply back. He is showing it today to a guy who is taking a second look, if he doesn't buy we will set up arrangements for me to go. I am torn between hoping he
sells it and wanting it so I guess either way I won't be disappointed.

Looks like I missed out on this one. Hope it went to a good home!

Deal fell thru with other guy, just got e mail, don't think I can let this one slip away and I sold my boat today!
I asked seller if I should bring a trailer or if everything was good for a 4 hour trip, his reply:

Looks like I will go Sunday morning!

Can't get too excited until it happens though because you never know! Glad I listed my boat for sale this morning and sold it in a few hours so I can take money to buy it if all works out!

Thanks olds, we been e mailing again this morning so fingers crossed and I am going to even let my biggest critic my dad go with me and let him drive it because he is the grounded one in this situation where I want it so hard to give a honest assessment. My dad and I made a deal where if he says walk away, I will but all the owner's e mails seem honest and as he seen I wasn't just looking for a cheap car but actually a wagon enthusiast he started giving me more details and was more open about the car!

You are right Olds, I wish Mike was my neighbor because I would pull it right in his driveway and tell him call me when its done! :rofl2: He cleans a car like no one I have ever seen! I think a good buffing and cleaning and it will really look good. I hope that is why it is priced at low retail with the low miles because it just needs a good cleaning and some TLC.

Hopefully pictures to come and a good ending!

Thanks BD and Dewey but it isn't a done deal yet!

Well may not get this done, the owner is leery of a out of state buyer. Even after phone conversation, I gave him my address and all but I looked into what I need to register this car in La since it is a Sunday and he don't know of a notary we could use there. I need the title signed, bill of sale and a copy of his drivers license. That is where we run into the problem the seller had a credit card stolen so he is worried to give me the info tomorrow even though I offered to give him a copy of my license and I am coming in person not sending a agent.

Trust me I understand to a point but there are certain risk with selling anything. I asked for VIN so I could put insurance on car to drive home and that is what led him to calling me. I explained he had title I just needed VIN and that is it!

I explained nicely $1750 for wagon + Diesel to go and get both back = $2000+/-. Can't spend that on a car I can't register.

Always my luck...will see what happens.

Just saw this. That sure looks like a nice wagon. And the price is really fair if it's nearly as good as it looks.
I'm not sure about laws in your state but I've always just bought cars, got a recipt of what I paid, the signed title, and headed for home. My insurance is always good on the car until it is home. Then on Monday get the insurance and then title changed where I live.
I bought an RV in the panhandle and took the title to the next city to get it and the tag.

We sometimes take rt 82 from Montgomery thru Tuscalusa to Winona. Not bad roads.

What I am told is I need proof from the owner so it doesn't look like I stole a car with title in it and trying to put it in my name. According to title clerk for the dealership where I work.

That's why you get the owner to sign a paper showing he recieved the money.
I realize things have changed a lot concerning selling and buying cars. But if you have the recipt and the title, plus the wagon, that should be enough. Besides get his phone number in case police or the drivers license place has questions.
Even here in Florida I took my Illinois titles and the vehicle to get things changed.
On my wagon with Illinois registration I had a cop neighbor check the VIN so I could do the transfer because it was apart for a clutch.
Maybe if you have a policeman there when the owner signs a paper it will help.
