On the road, was 1995. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Other-Makes...9209&rk=2&rkt=4&sd=181339853427#ht_306wt_1362 I was on my honymoon in Nova Scotia, it had Florida plates on it. Who would drive a Yugo from Florida to Canada? Wasn't you Cat, or was it.
You do have a valid point! I thought they were built and put together like the Trabant..... 3lb sledge, various sizes of wood, good pair of work boots, slam the crap out of it till it works.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFnCwtTVpao
You've led a sheltered life Tedy! I can't remember too many of them. Have seen a few here in Florida even. I'll swear every one I saw looked like it spent most of it's life in Salt Lake in the lake or at Bonneville.
A friend of mine was home on leave from the Marines, and he was proud of the fact that he could grab the rear bumper of his mothers Escort and lift the rear wheels. going to a bar we stopped at Goss Dodge-Yugo to see if he could lift a Yugo. The bumper twisted before the wheels came up.
I don't think I've ever seen one up close, but I've seen them along the road, dead. I heard they had corregated cardboard door panels. I wouldn't want to take a trip in one, size wise, and, where do you get parts? Like a Daiwoo.......
When they first came out one was put on display in our local shopping mall. One of my buddies at the time jumped in to check it out, grabbed the shifter, pushed it forward, yanked it back and promptly tore the knob off the shift lever. He tossed it over his shoulder into the back and we walked away like nothing happened. Not two years later and we'd be cruising the Jersey shore and see Yugos rusting at the seams already.
