NOW AIN'T THAT THE TRUTH!! I know you have been laying awake at night wondering why baby diapers have brand names such as "Luvs", "Huggies," and "Pampers', while undergarments for old people are called "Depends". Well here is the low down on the whole thing. When babies poo in their pants, people are still gonna Luv'em, Hug'em and Pamper em. When old people poo in their pants, it "Depends" on who's in the will! Glad I got that straightened out so you can rest your mind.
Down here in the Sunshine State we are about to go to bed. Thanks Fannie. Just one less thing I have to worry and think about tonight. I learn so many important things from you station wagon members. I was stocking up on Pampers because that's what I want people to do to me.
Pampering is earned and not granted, Sir. Depending is something else. The only difference between both is if you wear those things on your face or at the other end
Thanks Fannie. I grew up in cloth ones. You know, those itchy, rash-prone flannel cotton types. Explains my 'never-sit-stillness'! But, I sleep like a rock. Can't even recall dreaming. I guess that old "Cheers" powder detergent, mom used in the wringer-washer is to blame! My neighbour gave us her old Speedqueen wringer-washer, with a stainless steel tub, no less. Its gonna sit close to the newer Bosch Washer and Dryer machines, as a threat!
We still use the old cloth diapers our four kids wore to clean our cars. I think Dollie washed them first. What amazes me is after our kids were raised others had diapers picked up and cleaned by a diaper service because the young mommies were too good to wash s*^@ out of them. Now young people have no idea what a real cloth diaper is. You ever try to buff an old car with a Pamper or a Huggies?
Yeah, all I can find now are old flannel sheets at the thrift stores. High fiber content, probably 150 grit!
Commercial diaper services have been around since the 1920's. The way that diapers were washed sanitized them in a way that no home washing machine ever could. http://mothernaturesdiapers.com/independent-diaper-studies/
I wasn't around in the roaring 20's! That's also when milk, coal, bread, ice, and other things were home delivered to those on the north side of the tracks. My parents had to milk their own cows, dig their own coal from the mines, raise their own wheat to knead their own bread, cut the ice from the nearby lake, and physically do other things. The last part of the above post sounds like a lot of crap to me. Of course they are gonna tell the public all sorts of things so they will hire a diaper service rather than toss the dirty diapers into the washing mashine. Just think about our foremothers who had to carry water from the well or creek, boil it, wash those messy diapers by hand, and hang them on a cotton clothes line to dry. Young people today are too soft and lazy. As for chemicals in those early disposable diapers, wonder how much this had to do with ADHD and diabitis in young people of today? Wonder how much those lab people made putting little Huggies on laboratory rats? Wonder why Fannie started this thread? I think I just soiled my pants!
nice one Fannie , but I guess if babies could talk plastic may not be so fantastic glad were not that young or that old( nightmares tonight ) That's better seeya in the morning
In 1999, when we left Mexico, after 5 years, the Mexican Government made Synthetic diapers illegal because some older disposal sites had become landfills, snd reused for the National Lottery's $100 Million Plus lottery neighbourhoods. Folks had won these luxury homes, built on these landfills that were imploding. It seems that the zillions of diapers were not decomposing as expected. Puts a whole new meaning to "Buried Treasure", huh?
Buff your car out with them, before they dry and let us know how it turned out Mine had to go fetch alligators out of the swamp, using only a large stick and a hunting knife
