Not me. That car has been messed with more times than a bowery hooker. I'm not saying it isn't a nice car...I just prefer honest survivors that still have all their parts.

It's definately been around the block a time or two. I like the survivors myself as well, not the rose of the truck stop. (I'll be more subtle than my neighbor) The car has neat history, but so much of it has been lost with the customization done. This car should have been restored not modified.

There are way too many speed bumps,in the LA area, for a car that sits so low.Even firetrucks have problems with the LA speed bumps.

I don't like it much myself. And now there's that new fad of cutting out the middle of a vehicle and making it only half as long. They usually do it to older VW vans, but I've seen an example of a car shop class at a high school doing it to a Country Squire.:taz:

Say what?..The cutting the middles out of vehicles and shortening them?..Yeah,and if you thought them old VW vans were top heavy and unstable before,go to Youtube and find the videos about them. They end up way unstable!:49: Makes you seriously wonder why(other than to look incredibly stupid)they do this thing...This is the doctored Buick.Your Bowery hooker. The way most of are talking about it,we may be knocking the price down, not up.

Oh,and the bit about local car auctions;most of those are government auctions.Cars consfiscated from local hoodlums and hooligans,so they're usually newer and not wagons. They usually happen at police or federal impound lots.A nice old car shows up,every now and again...The local car shows usually have a For Sale section at one end. Some are in great shape, most are in mid-restoration,a few are rickety rust buckets...I was also talking about the likes of the Russo And Steele Car Auctions that show up on ESPN or FoxSports.Watching them is usually good fun.Although, one has to wonder about the people who show up to bid. They'll take a mid-70's MBZ 450 SEL up over $100,000 in less than a minute---but then the auctioneer has to milk the crowd voraciously to get $35,000 for a 57 T-Bird.:(

When I was young, dumb and full of... :biglaugh:

I had a Corvair pickup (Greenbrier style without the van upper. My 1966 Monza Corvair had a Turbo engine, but the body was a rustbelt version of the Flinstone's sedan. Would never miss a puddle! :biglaugh:

Anyway, I shortened the pickup and stuffed the turbo in, but the ultimate plan was to drop a 283 in place of the Corvair. So I got the smaller Corvette Aluminum rads to install in the Corvair pickup's vented pickup bed walls. Eledbrock made a special pinion/conversion kit to mate up the 283 to the Corvair's transaxle.

Before I got the 283 into it, I put a couple of Thrush mufflers on the Turbo, with the wheelbase exactly the same length as the wheelbase width: 180 HP.

I could pop wheelies in 2nd and 3rd! 4th gear just chirped. Ist was a screamer. Lucky for me that the cop that stopped me for excessive noise was a Corvair owner. Those mufflers were all that would fit.

We got the 283 in, tried it and went back to the Turbo. The weight was too much! The front end would lift, just idling. :biglaugh:
