Great find, especially when you consider it's been there for 41 years. Good for you!!

now I must say THATS a strange place for one lol! I found 3 in my buick wagon. 1 behind a door panel, one under the rear seat(normal spot) and I think 1 was under a rear panel in the back cargo area.

    Is cool tho!

I found what was left of one between the springs and the foam of the drivers seat of my '88 Colony Park.
I found a perfect one behind a rear door panel of my '77 Estate Wagon.
Under the hood IS a strange place. Hope it's in good shape!

I'm going to search for mine. Any hints on where GM hid them in the box wagons?

Congrats:), and yeah.... under the hood is a strange place? I found my 83 Olds between the headliner and roof, when I replaced the headliner.

hoping this summer when I replace the headliner in the Buick I find it's in the same location, I all ready know it's not under the back seat.

Much like true love, you're most likely to find it while you're doing something else. :)

    VERY COOL!

Sounds like an unusual place but a bit more findable then under a headliner though, who'd ever think of looking there?

There isn't to many to many places left on Fannie to look, she's very disassembled right now, however I believe the door panels are still on the doors...do you think that maybe her build sheet is in there???

Did all cars have there build sheet hiden in them somewhere?

From what I understand the Build sheets were actually supposed to be thrown away, not left in the car. But the line workers having to meet a production build would sometimes "discard" them in the car. Normal human nature faster and easier.

So finding them is hit and miss, some cars do not have them, some cars have 1, some have several.

Most common places to find them are in seat backs or cushions, under Carpeting or door panels, or on top of the gas tank.

I have never heard of finding them above the headliner, or Hood insulation though!!!!! But they can turn up almost anywhere they could not be seen.

Maybe one of the Mopar guys can chime in on this........

I have seen a lot of gutted Fords/Chevys over the years and IMO/personal experience I have yet to find one in a Ford, but have found/seen them in various spots on GMs. Mopars though pre 80's in wreakers and friends cars build sheets were a "gimi" 4 out of 5 times and could be found under the rear seat. And I've seen a lot displayed at car shows......

There have also been numerous cases where a sheet is found in a car but it actually belongs to the car built just before or right after that particular vehicle which lends some credence to the disposal theory.

I found one in a Ford (sorta)!

I just found mine for my Mercury under the front seat. It was pretty shredded, so now I have a little puzzle to solve. I wish I had found it yesterday during our snow day. What did people do when it snowed before the internet?
