As some of you know, we are currently working on my 1966 Ranch Wagon for the 2014 Hot Rod Power Tour. The car has a patina finish and I plan on keeping it that way. I already did a "Mexican blanket" cover for the dash, front seat, and subwoofer in the cargo areas. Now I am starting to think about the floor covering. I can get a full carpet kit from ACC for about $320 +/- but I would really rather give it the molded rubber floor mat treatment in keeping with the look of teh car (plus it is way easier to maintain rubber floor mats than carpet! ). I did not see the molded floor mats on ACC or a quick 'net search. Anyone got any leads/ideas on how I can pull this off?
as for carpet look at www.stockinteriors.com way cheaper....as for the rubber aspect...these guys dont do one...but if they dont know where to get it one then no one makes it http://www.newark-auto.com/
I got the rubber flooring for my car at Dennis Carpenter online. Very happy with it, but it is a lot easier to put in when it’s warm and did require some stretching in places. I used a sand bag, some metal chunks and some heat to stretch out the rear foot wells.
Both Newark and Carpenter said they did not have the floor covering but ACC said that they had it so I ordered some samples today.
The samples from ACC came in Friday. My decision is made. I am using their vinyl flooring in blue. I think it will look great in the car and go well with the look of the car. It looks like it will be a bit of a PITA to install but my buddy who always helps me said not to worry. I will be calling ACC tomorrow to place my order in between rebuilding the front suspension.
