Need trim too for a 1988 Colony Park Hi I just purchased a 1988 Colony Park and I need the same trim except on the passenger side!
those colony parks I too am a Colony Park Man.The advertising in the late 60's was that Colony Parks WERE "The Man's Stationwagon". The ads were usually about fishing or golfing, however, and I'm not really into either...But I AM into Colony Parks! I've only had two;my first car and my current car...My first car was a 68 Colony Park named Thunder, that met an untimely end at the hands of a runaway Chrysler Newport in 1981 My current car is an 86 Colony Park named Pearl, and while she's a little worse for the wear,we are working as hard as we can to keep her ...Great luck, with yours
They work great for that, my family's been using wagons for Fishing in the same place since 1967. From my Grandparents' Caprice to My Caprice, in the words of Hank, Jr. It's a family tradition. I can get myself, 5 friends and a back full of tackle, bait, and whatever our catches are by the end of the day, with room to spare. Once, my uncle Mick backed my grandparents' 66 Caprice right into the Wisconsin River during a fishing trip!! I drive past the spot where it happened every day during the summer. And live about a quarter mile from where it happened now.
hmmmm Backing the car up into the river...Was that an accident or an on purpose?..I've seen people do similar things under both circumstances.
It was an accident. It was a hell of a car, my dad bought it from my grandparents in 76 and sold it to my uncle mick, who had put it in the river as a kid in 78. My uncle mick wanted to build it up, since it had the 396 and the TH400. He put a Dominator carb on it and crashed the thing into a chain-link fence, had a bit more power than he was ready for and it got away from him. He has the old emblems and the steering wheel, but the rest I'm sure is in a scrapyard somewheres.
I've sent my share of nice old cars to junkyard, too. I haven't smacked any into fences, though. Used to have a friend that sent a 73 Grand Prix, with a 400/400 drivetrain to the junkyard because he siezed the engine---and,while he had that car, testdrove a 76 Trans Am with a 454. He walked away from that car shaking his head and saying he was sad.He really wanted one of those but,it had too much power for him.And he was afraid he was going to hurt himself in a car like that...So,sometimes,people can figure out ahead of time if a car is too much for them.Too bad about that Caprice,I think we'd all agree that's a bigger shame and loss than my 74 Mustang II or 80 Rabbit.
That reminds me of my roommate after graduating. He was the IT manager for the Registered Industrial Accountants approval board, and I was Manager of Industrial Accounting at a steel mill. We had too much money. Bachelors with a 3 bedroom apartment in a new high-end complex, and we both got 2 parking spots. I had my 1965 Dodge Convertible with a 1958-392 Hemi, and my 1969 Caprice Convertible with a 396. He had an old Triumph convertible. I get home one July afternoon, and he tells me that my Dodge is a wimp, compared to his brand new Datsun 240Z. Let's go to Toronto to a Free open air Jazz concert, he says. From Hamilton, Ontario to Toronto's lakeshore on a Friday evening is rush hour, and on a good day (like Sunday morning before 7:00 AM, its a 30 minute drive. Not my roommate, no, no! 15 minutes!!!!! He drove home the same way!!! 14 minutes!!! The next day, he went back to the dealer and traded it for a Datsun B210 coupe! Freaked himself right out! When we got home, he sucked back half a bottle of Glenlivet scotch. I know, caused I sucked back the other half, cussing him up and down!
