Yes, the Town & Country carpet will fit as far as I know. I believe both cars were the same body shell.

Auto Custom Carpet makes some great molded carpet. I have used a lot of it and it FITS!. You can go there and check the part numbers for the Chrysler and Suburban to be sure they are the same, but I am pretty sure they are.

I am familiar with Trim Parts carpet. I ordered 2 sets for vehicles I used to own. One set was for a Dodge Ramcharger which they fit pretty well, however the other set for a '81 Ford Fairmont 4 door didn't do so great. The carpet was ok, but they did a crappy molding job around the rear floor pans and I just was not happy with them. I went back to ACC and have never had a problem.

What's a source for moulded carpet for a 1971-76 GM B body wagon?

I contacted ACC about a moulded carpet for a '71 Olds Custom Cruiser wagon and it appears the carpet they offer is for B body sedans only. They don't seem to offer moulded floor carpet for the wagon that includes the area behind the rear seats that reaches the third row seat at the differential (see the attached pic. Obviously, carpeting the cargo flooring is a separate purchase).

If other outfits are like ACC, I'll be stuck with whatever I buy, so I want to get it right. Thanks for any advice.

When I redid the carpet in my 81 safari, I used stockinteriors.com.

I had done a bunch of research, and they offered the most options in colors, padding, insulation, as well as having one of the lowest prices.

They also got the carpet to me very quickly, and I was very surprised at how easily it went in. They had indents exactly where I needed to punch holes, and the only thing I had to use the old carpet for was to trim the excess.

I was pretty nervous buying carpet and doing it myself, since I'm still learning car stuff, but their carpet was, thankfully, easy to do.

And, no, I'm not getting paid by them, even though my post may sound that way!:)

BTW, I'm curious to know if the installation was affected by any extra insulation and padding you may have ordered. I'd like to order the additional matting, but am concerned it will compromise the fit. Thanks for your .02.

I ordered a non-stock color carpet in the plush cut pile, and I added the Mass backing.

The Mass backing added a little thickness to the carpet, but not enough that it was any more difficult to install or move around. In addition to the mass backing, the carpet came with insulation around the areas you would expect, mostly in the floor wells. That insulation was not something I had to buy, it came with the purchase.

Just for myself, I have not bothered with buying new carpet and molding in to the rear seat area yet. I wanted something that was easy before I started anything more difficult.

I didn't use any jute padding or the heat/sound insulation because I didn't know how much cutting/molding/heating I would have to do to that stuff, and also the car is pretty quiet without it.

I would say that based on how fast they were in shipping, and how easy the carpet I bought was, I would not hesitate to call them and ask the question about the ease of installing additional insulation.

Also, be sure to take full advantage of their free samples. I got the three colors I was thinking about, and I'm so so glad I did. I ended up not going with the color I was originally thinking about once I saw it in person.

On a side note, does anyone know what cars would have the same back seat carpeted area as my 81 Safari? Stockinteriors didn't have an option for that back area for mine, but I see they do for many other cars.

They'd be the Caprice wagon, Buick Estate, and Olds Custom Cruiser, wouldn't they?
