    That's purdy....

But, not sure I'm feeling the green interior. Seems like a weird color combo. Guess that was the '70s, huh?

Looks to be in terrific condition, but not the car for me. I hate crank windows, and solid vinyl is not my preference, either.

I love that interior color! Is like a teal blue-green / aqua?

    Nice looking car ,, yes...
But advert seems to be a bit deceptive....

""This is a nice Country Squire that I bought from a older man and lady in N.C. they
were the second owners and the car sold new at Town & Country Ford in Charlotte
N.C The car has 62K miles and has the original paint and all original interior. It was
always stored out of the weather and is in very good shape for the year. It has a
400 CI engine and all power options available that year. If you need to know any
more about the car call me anytime at 828-308-8103 Andy. This car is for sale locally
and could be sold anytime call if interested.::

Sooooo,, guess power windows, power seats, and tilt wheel were not avail in that
    car that year,, huh..... :D

It has a 400 CI engine........

A nice vehicle, however the VIN decodes as 351-2V. 8U74H175863

A common mistake. These engines had stickers labeling them as one of the 351/400 engine family. If you didn't know how to decode the VIN and weren't up on Ford engines, you might not know any better.

I don't know how well the 351 would pull this car; it might be a bit short on torque for a vehicle of this weight. Doesn't seem to have hurt the bidding, though.

    Good catch, Country Sedan.

351 engines were propelling Lincoln Continentals and F250 pickups that year, so it shouldn't be an issue with this car. Just remember, 1978 was a smog year, and in the middle of the Malaise Era of cars.

The big Continentals had the 400 standard with the 460 optional. I think the Mark V was the same. It doesn't look like a 351 powered any of these Lincolns until they went on the panther chassis in 1980 -- and these were Windsor motors, which usually gave up a few hp to the Modifieds in those days. As for the pickups, don't forget they had different smog standards, so they were able to squeeze out a bit more power than they could for the same size engine would in a car.

I had a '76 Gran Torino Squire wagon with a 351M some years ago. With the gearing in that car, it was okay, but not spectacular. I don't think it would have been very happy with extra 500 or more lbs in a Country Squire. That's why the 400 was standard from mid '73 through '77.

Don't get me wrong. The 351 would move the big wagon. It would just have to work pretty hard to do it.

Considering that either a 400 or a 460 would be a bolt-in swap, and that you could probably do a few mods to wake the 351 up and make it a lot easier to live with, the engine size shouldn't be a deal breaker, just something to keep in mind.
