Quite the shooting brake, I'd say.

As these pictures show, there have been quite a few versions of the Firebird Kammback wagon, some more successful in terms of styling and utility than others.

The best of these, and my favorite, is the Type K concept car. The roof has just the right slope and angle, the door glass and rear side window are in harmony with each other, and the rear end carries fresh wagon-only styling that looks very futuristic. :2_thumbs_up_-_anima

The two profile shots might look like they are of the same vehicle, but they are actually different year models with small differences in execution. Of the two, I like the one in the smaller pic.

When I first read the description and it said that only two are known to exist, my first reaction was "thank goodness". The roof line on the red car just doesn't flow well as it appears to have a trough. Also the tail light panel isn't reconfigured either. There's a whole lot more refinement to the silver model however. It's almost as it an extra "Kammback" section was hanging around and someone tried to fit it to a '78 Firebird, but without is same results as the earlier model.

You can clearly see the shortcomings of this one compared to the factory concept builds.
The top of the window lines don't flow right and the rear end looks like an afterthought, or lack of thought.

I saw it earlier today on jalopnik.com in the daily "nice price or crack pipe" segment.

For some reason one of these was in an episode of The Rockford Files. To my memory, it was never mentioned, it was just there and one of the characters in one episode drove it. It always stuck out in my mind. I'm a huge Rockford Files fan, so I watch them again every so many years.

Really not that bad of a price for what you're getting. Heck, a nice 'regular' Firebird of that vintage could be in that pricing territory.

This one is I'm sure, an aftermarket knock-off of the factory concept. Fiberglas roof section molded in to the factory forward roof. Not a simple conversion at all, as you have to mess with the quarters and cut off the upper rear body panel and window surround as well. I would check out the modifications thoroughly for cracking and inner rust.
