All 3 are to be found in the same building. In the larger cities, the 4th option is usually also available
I too have a 1965 Fairlane don't feel bad I can not find many parts here in the America either. The 4 door cars only help from the front door forward, tailgates are the hardest part. I really hope you hold on to the Wagon. Oh! and Welcome
Welcome Michael, Neat Kadett Rallye! Looks nice fairly stock. Is it unmodified? I always likes the Kadetts, especially the coupes. Back in the 1970's my family bought a 1969 Kadett wagon and drove it for about five years. By that time rust had taken a toll on it and the 1.1 liter engine was really tired. It had a lot of cargo space and I have got to say that my Dad usually used every bit of it which may have lead to it's demise. The small engine was great for gas mileage, about 40 MPG, but sometimes it was a little tough to keep up with highway traffic. My Dad still has a 1973 Manta Rallye that is pretty nice with the dealer installed A/C. It was brought up from Arizona and has virtually no rust. I will get that car someday. Since you are from Germany I would like to ask you a question. Was factory, (or dealer installed), A/C ever offered on the European market Opel Manta or Ascona models from 1970 to 1975? I had heard that Opel did not. If you know please let me know because it has been a "burning" question of mine for a long time. Welcome again, and thanks. Paul
I'm still looking for a factory A/C unit. I've never seen a Frigidaire on a domestic product here yet. I suppose, that compressor is way too overqualified for the small amount of space to get cooled. I did, though, find the last of that engine series punched out to a full 2 liters (the previous ones were 1.9s) with fuel injection. The seller of this one claims that there's A/C in it. According to the image he posts, I see no sign of it: http://www.e-mobile.lv/en/details/179833887 I take that back. Someone here is searching for factory A/C. He claims this photo shows factory A/C for a Manta B: http://www.mantadany.de/was-ich-noch-suche/
Hi Paul, Thank you for your contribution. I've had many old Opels in the last 20 years. of several cadet, Commodore, Ascona and Manta. The Ascona and Manta models from the 70s that has never happened in Germany with air-conditioning. The only model was the Opel Diplomat with 327 cui V8 Chevy engine. Greetings from Hamburg
Thank you for answering my question Michael. I had heard that the European Manta and Ascona "A" bodies of that vintage did not have A/C. It is great that I can go to a native German to confirm this. Keep driving those Opels. Paul :2_thumbs_up_-_anima
Well, I guess someone just has to make it happen. If only the engine is the problem, maybe it's time to solve it http://retrorides.proboards.com/thread/68971 Read more: http://retrorides.proboards.com/thread/68971#ixzz2j6YBohCi
