I asked the question about pulling a 28 footer because I found one on ebay and was thinking seriously about buying it. Then I ran across a 1988 viking pop up camper locally for $300 and being the cheap-frugal b@$*@*) I am, I bought it. It is not perfect but I have until December to fix its problems and get her decent. Just what I need is another project right? I figure if I cant get the wagon up to par and the camper finished in 11 months than there is a serious problem. Basically the camper needs a new lift cable and a little canvas work to be functional and weather tight. My wife wants to go a little farther by redoing the whole interior to make it look new and modern. Anyway I am getting really excited about getting up to PA and starting on the wagon. I am already making a list of everything I feel it will need. If only warm weather will come!!!! Basically here is a rundown of my plans with the old girl to get her roadworthy (bare with me I am bored) Pull the tank and flush the whole fuel system, replace the fuel pump and any lines that show any evidence of corrosion, rebuild the quadrajet, complete tune up with one of those points-electronic conversion kits. Replace the calipers, pads, wheel cylinders, shoes and flush.Replace the rubber lines and any steel lines that shows corrosion.Replace every drop of fluid and filters in the car,t-stat,hoses,belts flush cooling system and check the radiator.New tires of course and oh! winshield wiper blades..LOL. I "think" I have covered everything but if you can think of anything else I may have forgotten I am all ears! Thanks for listening.
When you do the points conversion, don't give away your old distributor as a core to the parts store. If the upgrade doesn't go well you may need to put the points back in. Happened to me. I will try again in the spring.
