Hey all!!.. well, I'm into the 1963 Ford Fairlanes.. I have a hardtop, just sold a post sedan and am looking at getting my RANCH WAGON going!!!.. got her from California.. nice and rust free.. (although that statement isn't exactly accurate as it has a little surface rust here and there!!! ) It had been stored for around 18 years the guy told me.. not running but all there and nice and straight.. its the 221 with the manual 3 speed T85 box and the factory overdrive unit. Plans are to take the front suspension and steering out and store it.. as well as the engine and gearbox as I have a new Ford Falcon (Aussie) 6 speed manual box and a 347 stroker for her.. also an RRS suspension strut kit with the stage 2 brake package and power rack and pinion steering.. now that should bring her up to a more modern and safer feel!... I don't want to touch the paint other than repaint areas that are rusty and try to keep the rest original. The interior will have to do for a while then a full repro interior down to new dash knobs etc etc I hope... Well, I ought to get into the forums and look around!!!.. Looks like a lot of great info, wagons and people on here so here goes!!.. Cheers guys! Dene Perth Western Australia
Got pics of the fairlane, I'd love to see the build since it sounds like its gonna be a cool one. Plus im interested in seeing what you think about the RRS suspension. Anyway welcome to the forum!
K, well.. shes looking "slightly rough" ha ha.. going to drag her home n wash her to see where to start!..
Is this where your car was stored for 18 years? Sounds like you've great plans for it, you'll start a resto thread ...right? aboard Dene from Perth.
Welcome aboard! I like your plans for the wagon - I've got a 302 in mine that I'm thinking about stroking to a 347 also.
Ranchy LoL.. the photo of is of her here in Western Australia.. it was stored in Cali for all those years and actually looked a lot better when it arrived here than it does in that photo!.. We dragged her out of the shed she was in a few months ago to take a couple of photos of her as I was contemplating selling...getting the time to work on my cars seems hard!.
Wagooooon Actually, comment about it being the only one in this neck of the woods.. it was the only one in my state and then... a local couple found one over east that was restorable!.. they brought it over here so when I had a look at it I was surprised it had the same combo as mine.. except!! we found 3 tags on it, the normal VIN door plate and 2 on the radiator support panel... once decoded by Bob Mannel from the FCOA and some others we found it was the very first wagon off the Canadian assembly line!! and right hand drive!.. it had been brought over by Ford as a marketing exercise to gauge public reaction/demand.. so they scored a real piece of history there!.. when it arrived it had a early 70's engine and trans.. but.. it also came with its original engine and trans so even better!..shame it has a fair bit of rust in the roof and gutters so is a challenge to get it all repaired but they are determined to get her all good again. Anyway.. thanks for all the welcomes!! Dene
