Every so often one of those Meteor wagons come up for sale. They are really beautiful! Good luck with the hunt.
Yup, we almost got a black and red one about 3 years ago, but passed on it because it needed a lot of body work. One of these days!
I unfortunately will not be able to do that till Saturday. I'm at college for the week, and home on the weekends to work on the wagon.
Not so long ago there was a turquoise one for sale on here and it needed almost NOTHING. It was a real beauty. They are out there, but you have to keep eyes open. There aren't many around. Of course, because of the Mustang, most mechanical and structural parts are dead easy. It is the Mercury and wagon specific parts that are tricky.
I think I actually saw the green one online. They only made 3939 of them, and that was 63 only. The body parts are the hard part. I would barely consider going to look at a Meteor wagon if it had bad glass, because that stuff is impossible to find.
Surprisingly, glass is not so much of a problem. The Fairlane used the same glass. It is the Mercury wagon parts that are difficult. Most of the body panels are shared with the Ford, too. It is amazing how much brand-engineering went on, even then. Because of it, even cars you would think would be difficult are a lot simpler to fix, though.
Believe it or not, I do not have a hard time finding meteor parts. Granted my dad and I have been into Meteors for 19 years now, and we even run a meteor registry. It just takes a bit of time!
