Looks solid and complete. It does have air, but not likely much else. It is a base Falcon, not a Futura. Too bad it is not the Fairlane, which was the same body, with a different front clip. Just that much nicer car.
oh those innovations Read, and saw on TV, where the 200 cid 6 puts out 101 bhp and was developed for the Mustang... Because that would make it "sportier than the Falcon, which came with less than that in 65. The mpg's are supposed to be 16/18 city and 22/24 highway. Have also read and seen on TV where you can pump up a 260, get more bhp and right about the same mpg's.
The base engine in the Mustang when it came out was the 170 cu in 6. The '200' was optional. You could also get both those engines in the Falcon. In fact, for '65, pretty much any engine in the Mustang you could also get in the Falcon, except the High Performance 271hp 289 V-8.
things "ive seen and heard This has been on several TV shows Iv'e seen and in several in print articles I've read. Iacocca wanted Mustang to have slightly bigger and more powerful(sporty) engines than Falcon. So, Ford came up with the 200-6 and the 289's. Zestier engines than those in the Falcons. BUT,,, the first 500 Mustangs off the end of the assembly line were without drivetrains, as the engines factories were not working as quickly as the car body factory. So, Iacocca had Facon 6's and 260's put in those cars and sent them out to dealers, with the proviso to "not sell them" until they had their "Mustang" drivetrains in them... But, this being America, all 500 of those cars went out with the Falcon drivetrains. Was working, therefore, on the understanding that early Mustangs came with either the 200 or a 289. *A trivial pursuit note of interest(and I've actually seen two of these) Playboy magazine gave away 52 Mustangs in that first model year of 1965. All painted pink, some with black interiour and some with white. Some with a 6, some with an 8. some with a convertible top even. None were fastbacks though. Worked security at a business park where a car magazine was based. They did an article on them in that magazine, and had a notchback with a 6 and black interiour and a convertible with an 8 and white top and interiour show up for pics.
