I am curious as to whether or not the front clip on a 66 Galaxie is interchangeable with a Country Sedan. I know in 67 they are. I like the body lines of my 67 way more than my 66, but the 66 is in a lot better shape and will cost me less to restore. So I have the 67 for sale and concentrating on the 66, gonna lower it a couple inches and drop the 390 out of the 67 into it etc. Thanks!
thats a heck of a good question Willy ...same frame.... ...but the body lines are quite different ....hmmm
Are you meaning to put the 67 front clip onto a 66 wagon? If so, I don't think so. I don't think the character lines will match. 65 and 66 could, I believe, as they used the same front door. 67 used a different door skin as far as I know. In terms of hard points, the clip will mount, but the body lines are not likely to work well. If your 66 needs a front clip, and you are asking about a clip from a 66 sedan or coupe, then yes, all the 66s used the same front clip, allowing for variations in side trim. If that is the way you are going, look for the 66 LTD grill, which was used on the Country Squire and XL also. It is die cast, and chrome plated, not pressed aluminum and is a much nicer looking, and stronger, grill.
Sorry, what I meant was , are the Galaxie clips interchangeable with the wagon clips. I sure hope so, because I just bought a set of fenders from a Galaxie to put on my wagon. The same year,1966. I am pretty sure they are, the lines are the same. I was told that the Galaxies and wagons have the same front clip for 1967. So I figured the did in 1966 also. Thanks for the grille info,MikeT.
Yes the sedan clips will interchange with the wagon clips. Most sedan clips will interchange with wagons. Some exceptions are some GM mid 70s midsize 2 door cars will not line up with their wagon counterparts. Another notable exception is the 1970,71 Torino. While the front clips will interchange, the doors of a 4 door sedan will not exchange with the 4 door 70 Torino wagon. In 1970, Ford changed the windshield angle of all the intermediate bodies except for the wagon. The wagon body is the same as the 1966 wagon body that was introduced on the Fairlanes and Falcons that year.
