Sweet! Great wagon! You don't see the '74 Custom Cruisers very often, and this one is extra sharp. Love that upholstery! (y)

Love this wagon. nice upholstery. It seems to be loaded, however, why did the first owner not pay extra for the power tailgate? You do not often see a manual tailgate on a Oldsmobile.

Takes me back. A girlfriend in high school had one of these. Same interior, too. Outside had wood delete and a brown roof. I drove it once and thought it was ginormous--even compared to my regular drive, my dad's '73 Olds Toronado.

Safety Certification inspection required in Canadian Provinces and Territories.

They check for functions of all critical systems as well as rust-through in floors/frames/suspension,etc.

Here's the summary from CAA/AAA site:
    Manitoba

Compulsory. Truck tractors 21,953 kg and over, semiannually; buses exceeding 10 passengers and school buses, semiannually; semitrailers, trailers, converter dollies, trucks, and truck tractors between 4,500-21,953 kg, annually. Random CVSA inspections.
All motor vehicles changing ownership require a valid inspection certificate prior to registration by the new owner. Does not apply to sales or gifts between immediate family.
New residents to Manitoba must have their vehicle inspected at a certified government station prior to registration. If vehicle recently inspected in former home jurisdiction, and inspection substantially similar to that in Manitoba, valid inspection certificate will be accepted.
Any motor vehicle that has been declared a total loss by an insurer and has been designated as salvageable must pass an integrity and mechanical inspection before it can be registered. If the insurer has designated the vehicle irreparable, registration is prohibited.

If my memory serves me correctly, the 1974 Custom Cruiser 3-seat wagon is the not only the HEAVIEST clamshell wagon, but the heaviest production wagon ever made. I used to have a list that I compiled the shipping weight of all of the 1970-1979 FULL-SIZE station wagons. Sounds crazy, but when I was a kid, this stuff fascinated me, so I researched and researched. It always amazed me that this car outweighed the 1974 Buick Estate Wagon which was a close second. The clamshell wagons were always heavier than the big Ford and Mopar wagons of the same era and as expected, the 1971 clamshells were the "lightest" of the clamshells, as the years went on and the bumpers got larger, the cars got heavier and heavier, but not sure why the 1974's was heavier than the 75-76 models, but they were.

Frames were heavier derbys guys know what I mean, at least the smart ones do. Same reason the 74 caddys and 74 riv's were. And altho not a "production" vehicle the Cadillac Fleetwood clamshell "sammy davis jr style" would beat that in weight.

It means the car was tackled in its own endzone while holding the football. :)
