While driving around town, I notice that between 60 and 65 k, the car shudders and doesn't want to shift up. If I am merging onto the highway and quickly going through all the gears, it does what it's supposed to do properly. When it starts to lurch and shudder, I gently give it some gas and she shifts up, but then I am usually going to fast for the speed limit. I can put it into drive at that point but it doesn't address the underlying issue. I know this is hard to diagnose over the webz, but if I take it to a transmission place, can they do a quick adjustment to the transmission? Or is there something fairly simple I can do to diagnose/ check/ repair?
The first question I have is: Is the fluid full and not foamy? When was the last time the filter was changed? It sounds like maybe the torque converter isn't locking properly. when the shutter occurs can you very lightly apply the brake and see if the shutter goes away? If it does, then it is the torque converter not locking properly. ANy transmission shop worth its salt should be able to diagnose it for a very small fee, if any.
