This rad size should and WILL work this is your problem. See where the top of the shroud is hitting the rad top support bar? A FACTORY style 4 core rad will NOT have that top support bar in that configuration it would be well i guess an upside down U shape all the way across meaning where that shroud is hitting your rad bar it would be basically indented all the way across on the front and the back side. That is a universal fit type rad and the book says it will fit but will not because the top support bar is hitting the shroud. My 4 core would go right in there and i had one like THAT in my olds but it was a different shroud configuration'

IF you look at your factory rad and your dads rad i bet you will see what i mean by the factory shape of the bar weather 2-3-4 core thats what it should look like and would give you just enuff room. These types of rad(or at least the one i had) are thin and do NOT LAST long at all! i think mine lasted 4-5 years? i had one in my poncho wagon and it fit fine with cut adjusting the rubbers that hold the tank,in this situation the rad top bar is wrong.Possibly take the rad/shroud assembly to where you bought it and have them get the right one.

My new 4 core in my buick came out of a 66 catalina wagon and has the correct bar on the top that you need

Basically what it should have is like a "step" on that top support bar on both the front and rear sides, not be flush with the rad fins/cores if you know what i mean.

You might find out that as the fan flexes it may rub like it is now be carefull.

To clarify, are you maybe thinking of the Mark VIII electric fan rather than the Mark IV? From what I recall, the Mark IV used a standard engine driven fan. The Mark VIII electric unit seems to be a pretty popular swap item, that's why I'm specifically mentioning it rather than one of the other "Marks".

You are correct it is Mark VIII, I couldn't remember. Very popular for G body BB swaps. :D

Thanks for the information. What is strange is that I just found that a guy on another forum recently did the exact same swap and his fit just fine. He didn't buy his from Napa, however. Here's a picture of his two radiators:

What types of vehicles can a Mark VIII electric fan be found?

The 1993-1998 Lincoln Mark VIII 2-door:

This is a first gen 1993-1996 model. The 1997-1998 is similar (same fan unit). Here's a link to a site featuring the Mark VIII fan swap into another Ford product, but it looks to have general info that would be useful: http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2006/10/Mark8Fan/

Thank's for the info. That will definitely come in handy in the future. I can go ahead and start looking.

This is why rebuilt can be better just for the look that a judge will go for. Wrong angle on the dangle, and different indents, the cap will line up wrong.
