weather stripping

    I have a 87 country squire wagon and would like to know would a 70- 79 country squire wagon tailgate weather stripping fit my 87

    absolutely no. the tailgate openings are not at all alike. i got a piece i needed from a junkyard colony park.

    the tailgate shape and size arent the same.. the tailgate /window on the 80's country squire is taller, and the way the tailgate bodypanel steel fits to the d pillars is drastically different. below is a photo of a 1975 squire and my 1984 squire. id suggest going to a junkyard, getting the entire piece, and have a weatherstripping company make you a few custom molds from that so thier new and supple for a few hundred dollars. i just took the top half from an 88 colony in a junkyard and am going to rubber cement and 3m77 it to match the other stripping in mine since its in very good condition.

    these pieces were molded pieces and simply will not fit an 80's squire or colony park. anything from 1979 to 1991 will fit. 1978 to 1973 will not.... 79 was the first year of the boxy bodystyle. if it says it fits 1970-79 i wouldnt buy from them as they obviously have no clue of country squire body styles. 1969-1972 was also a different body style. also will not fit...

    70-78, No. 79 and up, yes:) 79 was the first year of the panther body as you have.(y)
