Well, Here is my current (and only) wagon.

A big thanks to Joel Felzien for the wagon and the chance to own a nice piece of history and American muscle.

The car is a 69 For LTD Country Squire. 429 4-bbl, C6 automatic, 118,000 miles. Factory paint is Candy Apple Red. Woodgrain and paint are rough after many years in Arizona and other bright sunny areas. Car was built and sold in Michigan and is now back here again.

I will be restoring the v ehicle starting in July or so. I will also be adding a complete AC system as it wasn't equipped with that as an option. Lots of work to be done!

    Phil

If you are only going to have one wagon, THIS is THE one to have! What a beauty you have there, and boy, does it look fantastic. While the cosmetics may be in need of some help, one thing for sure, you have a great, solid base to build on. Make sure you add pictures to this thread as you go along. We all want to see the progress. Also, if you run into any issues, be sure to let us know. I guarantee that someone around here is going to know how to deal with it, one way or another. Don't forget, though, that we LOVE spending other people's money. Have fun with the old girl.

Hard to beat the lines on those wagons. Terrific design. They are just plain sleek. I like the looks of the wagon better than the sedans by a LOT. Great looking wagon, pjl!:thumbs2:

Congratulations and good luck on the A/C!

Congratulations Phil on getting such a nice wagon!! (y)

What sort of A/C system are going to put in it? Are you going to try to put in OEM parts are go aftermarket?

I'm going to have a Vintage Air system put into my trusty wagon. Alas, that's one of the reasons the car is in body shop purgatory right now. Before anything else can be done, the dash needs to be painted.

Best of luck on your restoration!!

    Cheers, Edouard

Edouard, My plan is to pull all the parts from a junk 69 LTD or Galaxie. I found such a car and it includes all hoses, AC/HTR box, vacuum control and interior dash controller. That car is in Colorado though. Hope I can find one closer to SE Michigan where I live. I'll have to look into the compressor for conversion to R-134a. Lots of work ahead! Phil

    Engine bay: unrestored

Here's a look at the engine and engine bay area.
Lots to do. Needs a few parts. Like a complete AC unit for one.
The engine will be torn down and gone through completely. I'd love to add aluminum CJ heads and intake manifold, but that kind of hurts the point of originality. My last wagon, same LTD Country Squire, same engine would run the 1/4 mile at 15.67 and 89 MPH. Not too bad for a 4850 lb wagon. Only mod was a free flowing exhaust system. Tried a 429 SCJ cam in it once and lost my low-end torque!

If you want to keep it looking stock, but improve breathing, think about an Edelbrock Performer intake and carb, and talk to them about what cam they recommend for high torque. Matched up, and painted, it will look very much stock, but work a big bunch better.
