I got to that point on my honeys 99 GM van, everyday some new problem happened. It wasn't so much GM and Crystler taking the bail out that had me go Ford in 2011, but the lack of faith in GM quality based on my personal experiece with that van I bout new. The heat failing was the last straw and I refuse to fix it so I bout her a brand new ford. Now the van keeps having a check engine lite come on, I just have a friend turn it off every few weeks....I'm not putting a cent into it ever again, crusher wil be the next when it gives up.
This would be why I only buy Bonnevilles! I am a Ford nut but not on my daily there I am a Bonneville nut! My last one a 93 supercharged that was built up had for 6 years with no fixing anything. My current one an 03 non SC so far I put on 7k since November and not an issue yet.
If I read this correctly the Canada government coughs up only $300 of it and a buspass. The rest is manufacturer discounts, which when you establish the retail price is pretty much meaningless. I suspect the extra $2700 is there for anyone savy enough to negotiate the deal. Are the trade-ins REQUIRED to be scrapped? The best part about the US CFC program? It eliminated most of the Obama bumper stickers.
x2 You can't beat those 3.8's with a stick, they just keep going, GM blew it. My wife's 03' GP just turned 160K and is still going strong, cool looking cars and they have real car type interiors instead of something that looks like office cubicle divider styling and material. The only maintenance is front brake pads yearly and frequent oil changes. You see older GM 3.8 powered FWD's all over the place, the car for the peoples. The only problem they have is the dreaded Pontiac tail light filling up with water when it rains deal. My wife found a pair clean non-leaking ones on our last trip to the boneyard.
