I bought custom coil springs for the front and leafs for the rear from Ecklers for a 3" drop and I have 17" wheels on it. I was able to autocross it this summer with no problems and the ride quality is fine.

We all don't like the same things, but one of the best parts I've found about this forum is the tolerance for different tastes, perspectives, styles, car brands, dogs/cats - you name it. Folks spend a lot of time and money getting their rides they way they want. If you don't like it, that's cool - but it's not cool (my humble opinion) to make disparaging remarks about someone's ride. I doubt you'd go up to someone at a car show and say their ride was "queer" to their face. Let's have the same respect for our long roof brothers and sisters on this forum. As Ringo Starr says "Peace and Love".

Well put Scout, I blew off the comment, but I for one am glad we all have different taste and we all like what we like. It would be boring if we all had the same cars done the same way. ZZZZZZ!

64 Countrysedan that's exactly how my Merc should look and Dewey that 74 Satellite wagon is ridiculously cool. Thanks everyone for all the compliments and suggestions. My CP sits way too high in back so I am looking into 5 inch lowered leafs in back and 2 inch lowered coils in front. I'm currently running 225/R60-15's on 15x7 Torque Thrust II's but would prefer to change to a larger tire on 17x8's on the rear once the car is lowered. I will post new photos once it comes down low.

When it comes to lowered cars, a lot of it is how you will use it. If it is a fair weather very occasional use, have fun, but be prepared to bottom out often. Don;t forget you have a fairly long wheelbase, and quite a bit of rear overhang. Driveway ramps and speed bumps can be a real pain in the backside! Nora, my 78 Thunderbird was at stock height, minus about 1/2 inch from spring sag all the way around. I had to be careful with a lot of driveways. The tail pipe outlets were oval, not round, from repeated contact with sidewalks. The mufflers were also nicely scraped from hitting. Certain dips in the road bed on the highway made for interesting light shows for the cars around me, too. I also get a quiet chuckle at people who have to go into parks for cruise nights, and end up going about 1/2 mile an hour, diagonally across the road, just so they can get in the part at all without rubbing the exhaust system right off their cars. At that point, in my humble opinion, it ceases to be a car, and becomes a rolling piece of sculpture.

Even as a kid, I always thought the 63 and 64 Fords and Mercurys, on their little 14 inch wheels, looked like they were already lowered, and this is when they were new, or almost new. I see them now, and still think that the ones at stock height look lowered. I haven't been in one in years, but they look low enough that my knees would give me trouble getting in and out of them. I may be 51, but my knees are 102.

Just make sure to give us pictures of the old girl when you are done with the lowering. To be honest, your CP looks to be sitting high compared to stock, all the way around, and more so in the back. I wonder how it would look back at the original height.

You obviously don't know me! and as for the "queer" remark guess what my grandmother used to say it all the time RIGHT TO PEOPLES FACE! The word has different meanings like "odd" or "strange". Along with it's NEWER meaning of the gay community!

    http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/queer

Pay close attention to the 2nd definition!
    Hope that helps!
