Have you all ever noticed that in the late 70's and early 80's that Chrysler, Ford and GM all built the same mid size wagons? The side view of the Malibu/Lemans/Cutlass/Regal, Fairmont/Zepher/Cougar/Granada/LTD, Dodge Aspen, Plymouth Volare all were the same. In silohette you cannot see any difference at all. Do you supposed they shared designers? Ha Ha. Just an observation.:2_thumbs_up_-_anima
Dont think it was entirely restricted to wagons, all the 70's cars were pretty similar in certain groups, ie compact, mid sized and full size. In Europe manufacturers began to feel the pinch with the fuel crisis and began altering the cars to make them more efficient, and drag co-efficients were begining to become known so a lot of our cars began to look drab and alike. I think it is more so nowadays, they all appear like bubbles on wheels and a lot of this is to do with computerised designs. They just do not have the soul and are not as instantly recognisable as that say of a 70's car. I love the 70's cars for the flambouyancy that was around at the time. In the states they had Police series Starsky and Hutch with a loud eyecatching Torino with in your face stripes and polished wheels, Over here we still had PC Plod running around in mini's and Morris Minors. But as for all the mid sized wagons sharing the same sillouette, perhaps there was a lot of Mr DeLoreans white product being offered for sale in Detroit at the time.
well ...at least in the 70's-80's....they still had chrome bumpers as opposed to nowadays... ..everything looks like a half used bar of soap to me .....but then ... ..i'm old and grumpy
