There was this one and a hearse of the same era that I saw, but I didnt get through the whole yard. This one has the rear windows (intact) etched with a medical emblem, pretty cool and the windows alone are worth saving. Not sure how soon I'll get back, this was my first trip back there in about 8 years, but if I find I need more bits on my Colony Park I'll probably go back so I'll try to go on a day that I have more time for exploring and photos.
No, DKW....this one, oddly enough, was an easy call for me because it uses the same drivetrain that my Wartburg came with stock. In fact I eyeballed it a bit because if the body was a little better I would have considered saving it an popping my drivetrain in it (I know mine's a runner) or done the same rear engine conversion with it that I did to the Wartburg.
couldnt disagree more Junk....holy crap theres some rare stuff there !!!!! If that was close to me...I would quit my job Not 1...but 2 1960/61 Squires?????....a 64 Falcon woodie? ....didnt I see a Cabalero as well?? It hurt to look
If the hood and hinges on that are any good at all, you should go get them. List them on craigslist for 500 bucks local pickup and you will almost certainly find a buyer. 2 bolts at the botom of the each hinge and it is off the car. One guy can do it alone. Cake walk for two guys.
My 64: The 64 body is the same as 63, front sheetmetal is year specific. Likely the same tail light "holes" just different trim and lenses. The hood in the picture from the yard is also different, shows it to be a 64.
No Friendship Auto Parts in Tabernacle, but I live closer to Washington Twp, I'll have to look that up.
JThw8, Fabulous what you have found! Would hate to see these go to a scrap metal yard and be crushed. I am wondering if you could find some mouldings for me? I am willing to pay what is necessary to get the bottom mouldings (clips not required) for the left and right rear window and also the tail gate of a Colonial Park 1960 (I have circled them on the picture I have uploaded). Would be really appreciated as we are a long way Down Under. Fifth shot from the bottom in your Junkyarding Day pics appears to be the correct mouldings but no tail gate visible. Any help with finding these parts and your time/trouble to locate above more than happy to renumerate cost and time. Thanks again, Dennis. If you wish to email me or would like me to email you please let me know. My address is dennis@axispestservices.com.au
Hi Dennis, Very little worry about these going for scrap. This yard has been here for years and while they do scrap and crush newer cars the old stuff stays put, some of it well beyond its useful years but they refuse to scrap anything. This place is about an hour and a half from me so I dont get out there often but I do have some other items I need to go back for (you always remember little things after you leave) but I probably won't get back out there until after the holidays. I will check on the trim pieces when Im there if you think that Colony Park I posted is the right one. As I recall it was buried in mud with another car on top of it so finding any ID plates with a year may be difficult.
