frankenstien is it's name, 1984 body with 1990 front clip and 1993 z-24 hood, been pretty easy swap, not everything bolted back same way, with my drill, wire and plastic wire ties and part of the 1990 wire harness things are coming together. got this car super cheap $300. plus fifty for body parts and 4 1990 stanard 13'' style rims that are sivler w/black center caps, wrecker yard was past due to crush the 1990 parts car had the red x painted all over it, got lucky it hadn't been smashed then luckier when he said take all i wanted for fifty bucks and threw in the fiber glass hood. this going to be my winter work car. this little beast runs really good, and it is a one owner(rough owner) with 125k on it. next to install headlights and grill, also to make rocker panels.
Welcome to the Squirrel cage, CSOSteve. Great wagon! Not often anyone puts much effort into one of these. Sounds like a fantastic save. Have you looked into buying rockers instead of making them? They should be readily available, and are not likely very expensive. That way, they are ready to weld in, which saves time and energy. Good luck, and keep us up to date! Can't wait to see the final product! Oh, by the way, Frankencar is taken. LOL My brother had a 79(ish) Thinderbird that had donor parts from 18 cars that we knew of. How many more donated parts before he got it, we have no idea.
This looks like an interesting project Steve, you never know what car will strike your fancy, welcome and keep up the good work.
That is a neat project, I LIKE THE use what ya got dont got much cash , keep us posted and a lot of pic of frankenstien
I always thought it would be kinda cool to make a Cavalier Z24 wagon. Z24's still show up in the salvage yards, and most of the final Cav wagons had the V6 engines. Add the Z24 fiberglass hood and cold-air induction, Z24 wheels, front bumper and trim. Neat toy on the cheap. About 5-10 years ago the salvage yards were full of these, but they are getting scarce now. Good luck!
